Show Off Your LED Light Bars

Hello everybody!
I got a 42" LED bar on the way for mounting above my windshield. I was told that I should have got the 50" instead. What is the better size? seems like 42" from what I have seen here.

From what I've seen when I was getting my light bar the only mounts I could find were for a 42" I don't know if they make mounts for a 50" that you could just buy online, unless you go to a fab shop and get them made and my opinion the 50" sticks out to far past the door looks weird, I have a 48" and mounts a fab shop used a water table to cut them out and copied the mounts my light came with but added a bottom so I could mount it in the door seal

Have posted before but that was my old setup before the new 30" and number was completed. Rigid SR 30, Rigid dually white spot, rigid dually amber flood and 6x ultra cheap 5LED bars going around the rack as area lights.

But then we also realized the bar is straight and not curved. he said that would look terrible since its not curved. I have seen the 40" on top of gobi racks also, so maybe I should save it for that spot. or I can return for a inner bumper bar.

Yeah radius bars are nice looks cleaner also

A lot of light bars come with a wiring harness...

Are you trying to make your own? Or understand where to connect things?

A basic wiring diagram for any AUX lights should get you where you need to be.

Otherwise there are many write ups out in the world..

If you buy a wiring harness everything is set up for you

Pm me and I can help walk you through it, I've got a bar above my windshield, 2 sets of pods and some projectors on the front and a bar on the back and I'll be installing some flush mount rigid lights in the bumper in a couple weeks.

I think the point of this thread is to see how it's mounted and not how bright it looks in a picture. I wheel at night and the lights help show the way, I also do a lot of side work at night like working on friends cars, organizing furniture in some storage units for a staging company and even some small security jobs and my bars are the only lighting around. Not sure if your trying to knock us by saying these lights are pointless but if you are then you are very mistaken.

I just prefer practical mods, but you are right maybe I am mistaken and everyone uses them quite a bit. We need a "Light Bars in Action!" thread.

what is the go to light bar to mount on the roof and where to go for the brackets and hardware? I know absolutely nothing about them. I do plan on getting a roof rack basket if that helps at all. I'm looking for ease of install but quality if thats a doable combo

Does anyone have led light bars on their roof rack facing to the side ? I went wheeling at. Night, and I have front and rear light bar. But I noticed that it kinda sucks not having light to the side of you. There's a black blind spot. So i was thinking small LED bar on each side on top of the roof rack. Anyone do this? I have whitsonmetalworks 3/4 roof rack by the way.

I just prefer practical mods, but you are right maybe I am mistaken and everyone uses them quite a bit. We need a "Light Bars in Action!" thread.

I'd guess about 90% of the people who put light bars on their trucks put them on more for show than to actually use them(city use would be pretty limited).
But they are amazingly useful if you actually offroad, or even drive a lot of rural roads at night. I've avoided a bunch of collisions with deer and other animals, and being able to see a mile down the road is priceless when it comes to being able to see road damage, fallen trees, other debris, etc.


There are a lot of comments about 'buying Rigid or nothing,' and while I do agree that you gotta pay for quality, Rigid's prices are just ridiculous. I have a few friends that bought the cheap chinese crap on ebay and got water in the housing, so thats not a great way to spend money.

I have lights on the sides of my roof rack. There are seven small round LED lights and a small 6" light bar on each side. You can see them in this pic:

Here they are lit up:

They have come in very handy at times, like when setting up camp in the dark. I definitely recommend doing it.
