Hey guys, Im one of the guys over at Shrockworks. We have been working on our front bumper for the 5g 4Runner and felt like it was time to start getting some feedback.

As you can see, we are well on our way, and in a few more weeks we should have something ready for production. We are still knee deep in the design stage though and would like to hear what you guys thing of what we have so far.

At this point, it could be very helpful if you guys have any idea or suggestions as to what you might what out of our product. So, heres a sneek peek.....

Well...right out of the gate it looks about 2,000 times better than the ARB...imo.

That being said are there going to be recovery hooks? Timeline ?(I've seen in the past some issues of members waiting long periods of time for sliders) Of course I also realize to have a quality product, made in America, it takes time.

Self installations? Will templates be provided to install and cut the truck fascia?

Addtional light mounting points?

Compatibility with skid plates?

Looks really nice! I can't wait to see what it looks like done with the runner all back together.

Looking good. What are your plans for the area below the headlights/grill and above the bumper?

Also are the fog holes the same size as stock to accommodate them?

Some answers....

There will be 1" thick tabs for 3/4" clevis shackles in the rectangular slots just below and to the left of where the tube hits the top face on the bumper. Same idea as our 4th gen bumper except they will be thicker...1" instead of half inch. It isnt needed for strength, the 1/2" on the 4th gen is already overkill, but the 1" helps keep the shackle in place....and looks nice and beefy.

The fog light holes in the 3rd gen and 4th gen bumper are for PIAA 4" or similar aftermarket style fog lights. It looks like we may be able to design the bumper to remount the factory fog lights on the 5th gen. We are looking into it. If we can, that is probably what we would do, unless we hear otherwise from customers. We to this on the Nissan bumpers now and the 5th gen runner fog lights very similar. You already have them, so they are essentially free, and they are actually pretty decent fog lights.

Under the headlights.... We are going to design trim to fill that area in. You will not need to cut up your stock bumper. We have ideas, but havent started on this yet. Need to get everything else set first.

All hardware and instruction needed for install will be included.

It will come with a small stainless skid like the 4th gen bumper. We will be developing other skids too. It is unlikely that the bumper or the stainless skid would interfere with other aftermarket skids from what I have seen so far.

Lead times.... We now have all the equipment to do everything in house now, no more waiting for parts, so the situation is rapidly improving. We will do a first run special on this bumper, 10% off normal price AND guaranteed delivery time. We are NOT taking orders yet and do not have pricing yet though. We will take a name and email to get on the list if you want though.

Not cutting stock bumper + reusing stock fogs = awesome
 
Trim pieces

I'm thinking if you can weld some small flat metal to the bumper to cover the holes from the OEM fascia that would be great!
 
I think it looks awesome so far. Reminds me of my old TJM-T15 off of my 3rd gen. Yours and the budbuilt one are my favorites so far.

I like how the budbuilt one wont require you to cut your original front bumper and uses the stock turn signals though.

+1000 on the not cutting of the stock bumper.... I like the prerunner bar. I the space underneath it prewired for lights? or at least has some nice channeling to run wires through?

What about weight? too heavy for stock suspension (Limited with XREAS)?

Internal winch mount integrated?

the big one for me will be price though... school loans arent helping my car-mod budget :)

Are those Hi-Lift jaack points on either side below the winch?
Will there be provision for the washer bottle re-location?

Can't wait to get one.
 
That looks nice I may have to wait and forgo the ARB bumper... It would nice to see lights that use the existing wiring for fogs , turn signals and daytime running lights..
 
That looks really good.

I'm glad there will be alternatives to the ARB.

I know ARB has a long tradition among enthusiasts, is built like a brick sh!thouse and can probably hit a small planet and survive...But man! That thing is hideous...and just looks so out of place on most vehicles it resides upon. Function over form I guess.

Looks good! What if you took the lines of the bumper up to meet the grill/lights after it comes around the sides? Might make it look beefier in the front and no need for parts under the lights and grill.

i like the way they brought the bumper all the way up on that one but i personally think it looks silly being so close to the grill. i like a bumper that sticks out a little bit. the rear bumper does look absolutely amazing though.

i might have to buy a 4runner instead of a Tacoma for my next vehicle just for the bumpers haha
 
i like the bar arond the light on the 4gen bumper it would be nice to see that on this one just my input
 
cool. I like it. I agree on using the stock fogs and having an option for stock turn signals too, to keep it legal. not having to cut the stock bumper, that's a plus too.

I love my Shrock Sliders, and would be very comfortable buying from you guys again.
