- Bumper modifications will be mandatory. There really is no way around that unless we replace the ENTIRE bumper shell, bringing on board a whole mess of unnecessary weight.

- OEM back-up camera will not work with a tire carrier. Your only option is to purchase, mount and wire an aftermarket camera that would mount on the rack somewhere. Back-up sensors will also be an issue with the tire carrier. We should be able to maintain the two outer ones in the bumper wings, but the only place to mount sensors in the center section with the swing out in place is on the lower angled face of the bumper, pointing them at the ground and rendering them useless. Bumper only versions will likely be able to retain all 4 back up sensors.

- Hi-Lift mounting will be a standard option on both racks.

We are trying to decide which style would be preferred by the majority, and will be offering one or the other. Not both.

For me, Style B. I think the truck would look more balanced with tire on 1 side vs squeezed next to the tire mounted in the center. Also not a fan of Jerry Cans hangin out like they do in A. Over all great job, thank you for providing products for those of us who are not able/willing to do this ourselves and try to keep lead times reasonable

Couple questions/considerations, I know some of these are covered above and some are just not likely practival but just brainstorming here.

*Keep Ladder compatabilty
*Options for Jerry can mounts but not required for those who want to use Rotopax etc
*High lift jack mount (jacking point?)
*Keep the spare tire mount as slim as possilbe so it doesnt look like its just hanging/floating off the back (this is more cosmetic than anything else, just a thought)
*Optional fold down table (may not work well with item above)
*Able to have it swing out either direction
*Optional Lights in the bumper ( I have no interest in this but some might)
*Keep options to powerder coat, or bare metal
*Aluminum or stainless options (likely not cost effective)
*Keep in mind when designing how people may use the spare space under the truck if they remove the spare (Extra Gas/Water. air tank, storage etc)
*as mentioned back up camera mounts (likely not worth your time as people can make there own but a thought)

Hey all.. When I spoke to the folks at Shrockworks about the redesign, I had a suggestion... I'm wondering if I'm the only one interested in an OPTION for 'hoops' to extend up on either side, to give some protection to the lower part of the rear panels. Amy I the only one interested in this or would others go for this if the team decided to offer it?

Option B would be my first choice, placing the most weight/mass closest to the spindle. Also a big fan of the hoops along the rear side panels.

Rigid dualies in the bumper corners would also be awesome, as well as the fold down table.

Hey everyone. I wanted to go ahead and let you guys in the loop on the fact that we are heavy in the design stages of a redesign on our 5th Gen rear bumper.]

One thing I wish you would have added to the last one I bought from you was a jack carrier. I made one for mine, but all it took was a pair of studs and some angle. You guys could do it prettier, and it's i very useful feature.

I welded two studs that lined up with existing holes in the SW carrier. I then reverse welded on two lock nuts on the jack side of the angel. Everything fits perfect and the jack sits about 3" from the tailgate.

Oh big time agree good call. Maybe just a 4 or 6in hoop on the side

Big fan of the hoop idea also. Something else I was wondering. Is the bumper going to completely wrap around which would involve cutting the fender and quarter panels or just go over the existing panel like your current design? My vote would be full wrap around. Just wouldn't trust those covers on a real hard hit. Love the new direction of the rear!

Great designs! And I'm digging design B for myself. Thanks for asking the community. I have not bought a rear bumper yet and will be in the market soon. I had not found one that I truly liked. The current ones out there were too boxy and didn't look right with the design of the 4Runner! Plus they lacked certain things your designs now address. The angles on these designs are the biggest selling point for me.

The functionality to work with the Gobi ladder is perfect! I'd also love to see cutouts available for the flush mount Rigid lights. As well as the option to add protective hoops for the rear fenders. And lastly the ability to use rotopax jerry cans would be nice too. Great work and excited for this to come to market!

Yes, hoops...

I like option B, but whatever....

My top requirements are in order.

1. Departure angle improvements along with rear corner protection (hoops...).
2. The option of not requiring a swing out (still being able to mount a tire under)
3. Keeping the receiver .strong for full load but being able to unbolt it when not being used
4. Weight. The lighter the better. It seems like all the rear bumpers are a bit overweight.
5. Maybe even offer a non swing out version if that could keep the weight and cost down. I would not mind just carrying a pizza cutter up in the stock location to get me home....

How about something thin like the filler pieces on the front bumper for under the headlights? Lower section would be original thickness for strength and upper portion could crew in place thin metal to fill void?
