Shrockworks 5th Gen Rear - Round 2

A robust version of option B... .

Version B - I want to be able to use a Gobi latter

Crap, I forgot I have a Gobi ladder installed lol. Style B it is ;-)

Definitely a fan of option b. The cans are to high and protrude way to far on A. ... Alas. I'm just 1 opinion.

Style B all the way1

I like option b

My vote is for B.

Option B would be my choice

For me, Style B.

Style B. Only efficient use of space.
I can have my truck to you for test fit no problem...

Love your front, always wanted a rear from you guys but wasn't into the one you had.

Being that I am in the market for a new rear bumper for my 2014 Limited, and I am gonna order the front bumper you make. I vote for the second rear bumper. Yes Please!!!!!!!!:thumb:

I'm a fan of design B. Thanks for asking our opinion!!

Option B would be my first choice, placing the most weight/mass closest to the spindle. Also a big fan of the hoops along the rear side panels.

I like option B, but whatever....

BBBBBBBBBBB also.

Version B
other considerations:
1.tapered lines on the corners look great vs current bumpers that are too square and boxy
2.light weight option
3.option for plain bumper with hitch, no tire swing out or side hoops
4.additional shackle points

This is getting really picky and may not add anything but there was a guy from South America that had a metal bumper made and at least on the front they had done a fantastic job of adding metal to make it look like the fender flares extend onto the bumper and didn't just stop. As along as the side height is not to tall this wouldn't really matter but just a thought........

Yes, hoops...

I like option B, but whatever....

My top requirements are in order.

1. Departure angle improvements along with rear corner protection (hoops...).
2. The option of not requiring a swing out (still being able to mount a tire under)
3. Keeping the receiver .strong for full load but being able to unbolt it when not being used
4. Weight. The lighter the better. It seems like all the rear bumpers are a bit overweight.
5. Maybe even offer a non swing out version if that could keep the weight and cost down. I would not mind just carrying a pizza cutter up in the stock location to get me home....

Your #1 and #2 are incompatible. The rear cross member is right under the plastic skin on the stock bumper, and the spare tire fits snugly against it. To improve departure, you have to give up the under mounted spare and move the rear cross member. 4x4 labs bumper does this, not sure if any others do.

I like option "B" as well. Here's what I'd like to see. Some of this is already mentioned/covered, but for whatever it's worth...

1. Increased departure angle.
2. Retain the hitch, but with the ability to unbolt it to achieve #1.
3. Ability to remove swing out and utilize stock spare location.
4. Hi-Lift mount.
5. Ability to add rear floods.
6. Ability to utilize the Gobi ladder with the can mount in place.

I don't use my hitch for much except carting bicycles around. The ability to keep it functional, but remove for off-road use and improved angles would be awesome. wfo9 and I have talked about this and he has a slightly different use case (motorcycle instead of bicycle), but the premise is the same. Keep the hitch, keep it strong, but make it removable for those times when max clearance is wanted.

A removable swing-out and stock spare location is more for day-to-day functionality. I don't have a rear bumper yet (definitely in the market). However, I could imagine the swing out getting old in town between off-road trips, or on longer family road trips with no off-roading. Depending on the design, including a cap/cover to protect the bumper mount point of the swing out when it's not in place would be a nice little bonus.

Jeremy556 is right in that they are mutually exclusive, but I think the use-cases are as well. A good design, should be able to make these work pretty easily. CBI already hits most of these, and the design posted here seems to nearly incorporate the rest (and probably could with minor tweaks).

I've got a front bumper on order with TxBxSx right now. I'd love to have a rear bumper to match it and this one, especially if it hits all the items above, will be a no brainer! Looking forward to it!

+1 for option B. BTW TxBxSx I'd be willing to lend my 4R for development if needed.

Well. It looks like option B will take the win for the rack selection.

I have contacted rotopax to get some dimensional drawings from them so that I can see what we can do about making them an accessory.

Back-up lights can be an options, but space in this bumper is extremely limited and you would likely have to choose between back up lights and back up sensors.

Its looking like the only way we will be able to maintain back up sensors is on a rear bumper only version, with no back up lights. Opting for a tire carrier will likely void the ability to utilize the OEM backup camera as well as proximity sensors.

As for side hoops on the wings, no promises but I'll see what I can come up with to make something like that an option.

This is all AWESOME news! The rotopax news is great! I think it would also be great to be able to choose between backup sensors and backup lights since not all T4Rs have the sensors (I think only limited has them). And as for the camera, that would be a fairly easy mod to add an additional camera and a switch in the cab to choose which camera to use...or just not use your backup cam when you have the tire swing mounted up.

And lastly, the hoops would be great if you can get them to work. Looking forward to seeing the design if you can pull it off. Great work and thanks again for taking the community input into consideration!!!

Wrapping up the prototype here....

I expect the production bumper will be nearly identical to this one. We just need to make a few revisions for jigging.

As for the swing out, like shown earlier you will have the option to mount 2 cans like shown here. Or, you can mount a single laid flat against the swing out for a more low profile set-up.

Also, the Gobi ladder is able to be run in combination with our tire carrier with about a half inch of clearance between the two.

Looks great! Would it be possible to keep a spare in the stock location if someone did not want a swing out?

Yes. You will be able to run this as a rear bumper without a swing-out. Your spare tire size will still be limited to the same about of space as the stock bumper.

Looks great! Any chance you have a photo of the distance between the spare and the rear gate (more of a side profile shot?)

I should have pictures of a completely finished product next week some time and I'll have all angles covered then.
