Shrockworks: Buyer Beware

Been waiting 5 weeks for a set from Shrockworks when they quoted 2 weeks. Anytime I call all I get is a voice mail and never a return call.

Would not recommend this company.

My bumper showed up 7 months later but missing fasteners. Great product if u can put up the other bs.

I got my Shrockworks sliders about three years ago, everything was complete, and I am very happy with them.

Think I will throw this out there too, I bought a set of their "step-sliders" when they first came out (2014). I had zero hardware issues, everything was packaged and shipped wonderfully, install was clean.

About two years ago I started to notice puckering under the powder coat (I would expect this on or next too a rock chip or an impact zone, none of that), yep ugh rust. This leads me to believe they didn't do good prep before they were powder coated. I have had quite a few things powder coated and in harsher elements than this truck has been through. Just thought I'd share a long-term experience. Apart from that these have held up really well. Of course, not looking forward to pulling them off and bead blasting them, messy work.

A couple of things..

I use to work in the powder coating industry (not on the application side) and the Shrockworks black powder coating lacks proper pretreatment and is prone to filiform and delamination (laymens terms it bubbles, rusts and peels). This is just due to sloppy or no prep or a combo

I have their sliders, very happy with the actual product other than the paint issues. Mine is worse on the limited side bar that covers the missing lower rocker on the limited panel, very poor painting on those plus..who the **** uses mild steel fasteners!

I received my second purchase of new sliders last Friday, this time with kickouts and tread plates. I will say that their packaging attempt this time was less than desirable compared to my first purchase. UPS did a small number on the box while it traveled half way across the country which lead to some scuffs and scrapes down to bare metal.

I asked Shrockworks for some powder coat touch up and they only recommended what I should buy. Thanks I guess? Definitely need to up their packaging game.

Edit: Almost forgot the fun part. The thin plastic bag of hardware ripped open during transport, subsequently leading to scattered hardware throughout the big box. Need to go through again to confirm I have everything.

I will also mention that prior to placing my order, I called and spoke with someone on the first try to confirm the lead time and was spot on with the 1 month estimate. There was no further communication after I had placed the order, so at least that.

Shrockworks slider

Hey 4runner family. I just had my rock slider for 6 month and it’s starting to rush. There’s no easy fix. They was going to replace the slider but if you ever install on one of these slider it’s a pain. I bought it from offroad alliance. Their a great company suck that this had to happen. I was told to fill in the missing weld spot and paint the area.

I'm curious to know why they went out. They seemed to be well respected, make really good products and was priced seemingly with the rest of the market.

Wonder if we'll ever know for sure. Another thread in the 3rd gen forum talks a lot about lead times and taking on too much business. Not sure how too much business is a bad thing, however.

According to this, Just a moment..., sounds like the owner ran it to the ground. Former employee stated there is a lot of debt and he didn't even pay them for the last week. Just fired them, said good luck getting paid and shut the doors.

Despite the strange turn of events this week. My Shrockworks bumper was delivered today. The one time I didn't order direct from them but through Offroad Alliance.

Reading that thread, it looks like OA sent a truck to take what was owed to their customers. Guess they knew before anyone else?

If you read some reviews there are lots from as far back as 2011 for the same methods, no communication, many months late etc, etc.
Seems like nothing new. Just finally caught up with them, probably accelerated in part due to the labor shortage that has swept the nation.

I have skids, sliders and front bumper. Did have to deal with all the above comments on customer service. Great fabricator with poor management skills, guessing they treated employees the same as customers….

This is a very common theme among the Off-road fab shop world. People get all mad when I call a shop out on it. This isn't the first shop who shut their doors and screwed a lot of customers over. I only deal with shops that communicate and have a good rep.

agree this isnt the first time for businesses like this to close. Same patterns almost each time one these close down.

Its cause the ******* likely pocketed all the money and closed his bank account. Whos gonna sue an empty business with no assets especially as an unsecured creditor. Disappointing as I like my sliders from them and was considering their bumpers.
