Will it be possible to just buy the Bumper without the tire swing out, or possibly to start out with just the bumper and later add the tire carrier? I really like the design of the bumper and agree with other posters that this is the only real alternative to the stock rear bumper that I have seen so far. Thanks,

Looks good Justin. I had a couple questions:

1) With the driver side shelf off, does the swing gate allow for the Gobi ladder?

2) I couldn't tell if the OEM camera would still work? Or did you guys wire in a new one? If so, i thought a connector that allows the wire to be disconnected at the swing gate spindle would allow me to wire a switch in the cab that would let me use the OEM cam when the gate is off the bumper and plug in the gate mounted cam and switch to that when the gate is on the bumper.

3) any cutting involved? or does it simply mount over the existing rear quarter panels?

Thanks for all the questions guys. The rack system IS defferent than the JK rack system, but so is the truck. With the fact that the body of this vehicle is so much wider and it has a lift hatch rather than a swinging out like the Jeep, we had to make some revisions.

The Jerry can mounts are the exact same as on the Jeep, they just had be moved in on the rack to clear the hatch, which also moved them further up on the rack. In doing this, it also killed out being able to use the existing cargo basket. But, if there is enough calling for it, there is no reason we couldnt do a new one, it would just be more narrow. With the fact though that there is so much cargo space in this truck already, and nice roof racks like Gobi's, it doenst seem as necessary.

We did manage to salvage the back up sensors, but havent nailed the camera yet. We only have 3 weeks left with this truck so I'm trying to get all the heavy fab stuff taken care of first. Our solution will likely be to find an aftermarket camera that works with the existing components in the truck, and have it mount in the middle of the spare. Wheather or not we can find the exact OEM connector to build a "plug-n-play" harness is another question. We dont exactly have the strongest electrical dept, and sourcing these items isnt our usuall routine. If anyone has any leads to help us out there let us know!

GOBI Ladder...It looks like it MIGHT clear, but we would need a vehicle with the rack to test it on....

We talked about possibly using the rotopax fuel packs, but with the fact that we already had the mounts for the Jerry cans it just seemed to be the way to go. The can mounts are removable though.

I have it mocked up on a truck right now as a rear bumper only, but will be putting together the proto tire carrier set up this week.

It is set up for 1" clevis shackle tabs, just like the front bumper. We might be able to squeeze some reverse lights into the center section, but depending on demand it could end up a custom option.

As for the 4th gen, we have plans to do rear bumpers for the 3rd gen 4runners and early Tacomas first.

Can't wait to see the 3rd gen rear! I love my SW from bumper. If you can make it similar to this 5th gen setup for a reasonable price, I know you'll have tons of customers...me included

These were some pics I had around. I can take some more up close ones tomorrow with reference items of known length so you can use that to extrapolate all the dimensions.

It seems that one key to making everybody happy with all these requests is to keep the base bumper modular so that the other parts can be added (or not) at any time. If you make attachment points for various configurations then perhaps some people could have a tire carrier off to one side so that the other side would fit a ladder. Others could have the tire carrier in the center, etc.
