Shrockworks on a 2008

I'm trying to find any photos of a 2008 with a Shrockworks bumper.

I would like to see how the lower, bottom edge of the grille is handled by the design of the bumper. If you look at the picture below you can see where the bottom of the grill is actually below the line across the front that defines the height of the fender seams. (By greater than an inch actually) The OEM bumper is actually scalloped out to allow for this but what does Shrockworks do?



Anyone have or can direct me to picture of a 2008 with the Shrockworks bumper ? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the link Doozi, (I did spend a lot of time looking but shots that look closely at the the bottom of the grille are not common)

It looks like the bottom of the grille just slips down behind the bumper. It seems like it would be difficult to access the hood latch.


I'm hoping someone with this style hood will comment on this aspect specifically.

Shrockworks provides a helper "C" bracket to add onto the factory hood release lever. If you look at Zimm's photo, you have to stick your hand through the grille down and to the right of the Toyota logo (behind the light bar in his case) and release the catch.

With your sotoshi grille, you'll either have to cut a hole in the grating (which i don't think you want to do) or create a separate hood release lever.

I can put my arm through the air hole in the bumper and hit the hood release. My bumper didn't come with the extension.

Thanks for the replies guys; that answers my questions. For a while there I was thinking that the bumper required trimming the bottom off the grille.

Can you kindly let me know what wheel size and backspace/offset on your 285. Do you ran them with spacers.

jdkilroy, I'm not high jacking eace: your post but just need to ask zimm on his 285 setup because I'm on the drawing board to upgrade my tires.

Stock wheel size: 17x7.5
I ran spidertrax 1.25" spacers with the original wheels. They worked but rubbed on a lot of things. I went with 2011 FJ wheels, same size, but they stick out 3/4" more than the 4runner wheels. So I sold the spacers. I couldn't be happier. No more vibe (spacer amplify tire/wheel vibes), and I don't rub as much.

Thanks for the quick reply , I found few FJ cruiser wheels for sale here and one of them is selling for $300 (6 spoke - most common FJ wheels) and the other one is 2012 FJ wheels but it's about $550 (same as yours). what is the most reasonable price for the wheels like yours, so that I can bargain with the 2012 wheels.
