Shrockworks Rock Sliders

I purchased my SR5 4Runner in December 2016, and I thought I would provide an update on what’s new. My latest install are Shrockworks rock sliders, silver powdercoat with dimpled tread plates. I bought them on the group buy and saved some bucks! Dealing with Shrockworks was very good.

Because I am not a big fan of the “Blacked-Out” theme on trucks or cars (maybe it’s my age or growing up in the 70s with chrome and billet), I went with silver powdercoat and I am very happy with that choice. The welds, finish and powdercoat are very good quality. Installation wasn’t too bad, took about 2+ hrs with some help from a friend.

I also installed Bilsteins all around, set at 1.75 in front and 1” Cornfed spacers in rear. Ride quality is very similar to stock, but now I have slightly better ground clearance and a better overall stance.

I purchased new tires, BFG KO2 LT255/75R17, which are C-rated, about 10 lbs lighter per tire than the LT275s, and are 32” in diameter according to the Website. So far, the ride quality is fantastic, quiet, and smooth. Haven’t tested them offroad or on snow yet.

Thinking of installing some canvas-style seat covers – any suggestions? I seem to like some that I found on the Cabela’s website, their higher-end version, although kinda pricey.

Shrockworks 3 tube angled sliders

Reviving an older thread to show my new Shrockworks satin black angled up 3 tube rock slider only. I’m very happy with these aesthetically, and will be interested to see how they perform later. I like the way they sit close to the vehicle and angle up. I’m 6’3 and don’t need a step. My wife is 5’2 and my 5 year old son didn’t need them prior to install, but, they provide some type of assistance for shorter people. I also didn’t want a kick out and I wanted the simplistic look. I will post some more photos soon looking straight down gettin out and some other angles.

As for canvas type of seat covers look at Carhartt, fit well and wear like iron.

I had a reputable shop close by install them.They have done them before and had no problems with the stick nuts. I think there are some threads and videos on installing SW sliders out there if you are planning on a DIY.

I’ll put it out here. The shop is RPM Garage in Monrovia off the 210 at Myrtle. They do all kinds of off road stuff on Toyota’s.

The SW website offers a product called “Trail Edition Rocker Trim” which says in the description: Installing rock sliders with decent ground clearance on a Trail Edition 4Runner is easy but the rocker trim on the SR5 and Limited models make it a little more dificult. That's why we came out with the ShrockWorks replacment Trail Edition rocker trim for the 5th generation 4Runner. Link

You don’t need it on your 2022. That’s for pre-facelift 4Runners 2010-2013 as the SR5 used the same rocker trim as the Limited then.
