Side exhaust

I swear I looked. Does anybody have it on a '14 or '15? I'm thinking of doing a rectangle side exhaust in flat back on my magnetic Grey. Photo please....

I already had the SS 4Runner Exhaust tip, so I bought the following off of ebay.
Yonaka Part# YMSS9025
Fully Polished!
304 Stainless Steel
2.5" OD 90 Degree Mandrel Bent Pipe - 6" Legs
1.5 MM Thick - 17 Gauge
Yonaka 2 5" Polished 304 Stainless Steel 90 Degree Mandrel Bend Pipe Tube 6" Leg | eBay

The guy I used (doing this for 20 years at his own shop), cut the OEM pipe just behind the hanger, cut the new SS pipe just before one of the bends, expanded the opening so he would be able to angle it down (so it would not be pointed down, but horizontal), but still fill the gap with the welds.
Before welding, he measured where the tip would be positioned, cut off excess amount of pipe for the side exit, flared the end slightly and welded to the OEM pipe and then my tip on the SS pipe.

It would have looked good with the SS pipe exiting without the tip as well, but since I already had it.....I told him to weld it

He did this effortlessly without issue!

OH, he charged me $40.00 out the door. :reddance:

Hope this helps!

Looks like an attachment to my vacuum cleaner. Side exhaust wouldn't work for me. I'm sure with in a week I'd smash it on a rock and turn it into a kazoo.

Well, I was following the old "if you can't say anything nice....." rule, but since everyone else jumped in.......yeah, that square tip is going to look pretty goofy on a 4Runner. Looks like it belongs on Burt Reynolds' Trans Am.

What exhaust exit location is most out of the way from obstacles?

I have been thinking about having my exhaust exit bent to a side exit. It seems like the stock rear exit would get hung up easier on obstacles and also produces cabin fumes at idle.

Would the side exit be more out of the way than it currently is stock?

Not sure if it would be worth having the shop do this or not. I know that its most out of the way having it dump in front of the rear axle, but I like to see my shiny exhaust tip :becky:

So I got the shop to redirect it as as close to the mudflap and body as possible. To do that they cut away at some of the that black plastic you can see hanging down. I think it looks clean and is nicely tucked in there and out of the way.

As someone who doesn't recreationally off-road I cannot tell you if the clearance is better or worse that before. From what I can tell the exhaust isn't higher or lower than before (at least not in any meaningful way), but there are probably other factors with the new location that others on this forum might be able to chime in on. I did it so I can cruise with the rear window down and not smell any exhaust, and it works very well for that.

Holy shit you guys are brutal. A few things, I did not purchase this truck for off road, it is a family hauler and my 3rd Toyota that I bought for reliability. My truck has zero chrome so I don't want a big ass chrome tip, the truck is square so I think the square outlet would look good tucked on the side. This is NOT the one I would use just a reference to the "out let". I will do it and you can choose to like it or not. I do however the the Trans Am reference, that was very funny.

As you should! Do what you like to your truck.

I want to see it also.

I was just looking at mine. I have some trail rub above the tip, but surprisingly my tip is not scratched.

I apologize for the crapy iPhone picture.
