+1:iagree:
can someone enlighten me as to what is the purpose of this mod? is it for off roading?
I went this morning to have my Magnaflow stainless muffler(pn 12256-18 inch) put on and more importantly had the exhaust pipe rerouted out the side behind the rear wheel. It's not as nice and exotic as Estabon15's but the price was right at only $65 for new pipe and labor. I already had the Magnaflow muffler and was replacing a Flowmaster Extreme(10 inch) that was too loud and had resonance at 22-2500rpm.
Harper, for the reasons you got rid of the flowmaster, did the Magnaflow fit the bill? This muffler along with what I think you said in another post regarding just having a K&N filter (leaving th OEM air box alone), does it make a difference in the HP and MPG and of course, sound? I understand it might be to early to tell MPG, but......thanks in advance for your insight.

The 18inch (12256) magnaflow is muffler is still pretty loud if you get on it. It's not nearly as loud as the Flowmaster though and doesn't have that irritating drone at certain rpms. The Magnaflow is a keeper. They do make a 24 inch Magnaflow if you want it quieter.
I also have Doug Thorley headers with the front 2 cats taken off,a TRD intake and loud tires so I'm naturally loud . I don't sneak up on too many squirrels but then again no neighborhood little kids have run out in front of me either. I abide by the"Sampson Pipes Saves Lives" theory, always have.I can tell about
I'm not one to watch gas mileage so I don't know as to gas mileage gains. When the yellow light comes on about every 350 miles or so,I fill her up.You might gain a little mpg but they have this engine and tranny tuned for pretty good mpg anyways for a 5000lb brick .
Had my side exit exhaust mod done today & pleased how it turned out!

Looks great! I did mine a few weeks ago and went a similar way as you did with the tip. I also liked how harper7 tucked his right behind the mudflap where the TE has a nice gap in the plastic that with a bit of trimming is perfect for the side exit exhaust. Haven't smelled any exhaust since!
How it should have came from the factory.
