Hey everybody,
2006 4Runner Limited, V8 4x4.
I've noticed that the outside dash vents (driver left and passenger right) always blow air when the fan is on, despite the setting on the control knob (defrost, foot well, etc). The windshield, foot well, and center dash vents turn on/off as expected dependent on mode. Turning auto, a/c, and recirculation on/off has no effect. Is this normal, or is a diverter valve within the heater core not closing properly?
Does anyone have a link to a diagram of the vent system / heater core? It seems strange that both L & R outer vents stay open, unless it's by design or those vents are fed separate from the inner vents. Searching for this yields endless threads on a/c compressor relays and hot driver side / cold passenger side, but nothing very useful for my situation...
