Side mirrors on 96-98 4Runner, 99-00 4runner, and 01-02 4Runner, what's different???

Ok, I'm working on have signal mirrors made for 4Runners. The kind that are built flush into the surface of the glass, like on many newer vehicles.

I'm trying to find out when the glass changed on the stock mirrors.

From what I'm hearing, 96-98 mirror housing and glass were the same.

For 99-00, the mirror housing changed, but supossedly the glass shape didn't change?

For 01-02 I'm told the glass shape changed, not sure if mirror housing is same shape as 99-00 though.

Can some shed some light on this ormaybe post pics of the housings and mirror glass???

From my observations over the years, the 1996-1999 mirrors have the same shape and 2000-2002 have a the same shape. The difference between the 1996-1999 and 2000-2002 is that the inside upper corner on the 2000-2002 is rounded a bit more.

This is how I can distinguish between a 1999 and 2000 model (differently shaped mirrors).

Can't really offer any help on the mirror differences, but did want to give some market feedback on your idea. I really like turn signals built into mirrors, but not so much the ones that you are proposing since they are only visible from the rear quarter. I would definitely buy mirrors that had the signal lens built into the actual housing because these are usually visible from the entire side of the vehicle, front and rear, and therefor much more useful and safer.
