SIKHILUXSURF's Build thread

so dropped off an extra set of oem cladding i had laying around to the guys at Platnum vip. my current body cladding is fading and chipping away. instead of going with the oem 156 dark grey metallic i decided to have them spray everything the lexus oem 1G0 Smokey Granite Pearl Mica. can wait to see how these parts will turn out.

pretty close but the 1G0 has more pearl content with a blue tint.

they are charging me about 600 for everything total of about 13 pieces including my hood scoop insert. it would have been more like 15 pieces if i had my bumper flares too but those are long gone since i have the odl bumper. i cant complain as it is a lot of work they will need to do to prep the pieces to prepare them for paint. all my friends say they do good work so we will see.

I talked to one body shop up here about doing some touch ups on mine and got told just let it all go bad then pay us $5k to repaint the whole truck. Needless to say I'm still searching for a decent body shop up here.

here are some updates since i havent updated in a long time. being a dad is hard work!

so we went on a trip to Sac this may for my wife's work. so i did some maintenance including new ebc sport slotted rotors and yellow stuff pads. also a new alternator.

so nothing crazy but after trying to balance tires for a while i just got tired of my bfg's so i got out of them and went back to 265/75/16 Toyo open country II's in a C load. also tread design is a big plus as well.

looks really nice with the new tires. I got sick of bfg's not balancing either so I sold them. The truck is looking amazing recently, I like the new mods.

so after a long hunt for this dash piece from the hilux surf i finally aquired one! i have been looking for the last year to get one but no one was able to source one, not even my Dealer friend in Japan! To some of you it may not be obvious what the difference is in this dash panel is but to the people who know it will be plain as night and day. now just to source a din pocket and radio brackets.

see the difference?

Those are for a RHD dashboard. You'll need to make some modifications to match the curvature of the LHD dashboard and to the upper console panel sub-asembly..

i'll try to get some output shots in a darker setting.

Your front end has a lot going on! Looks sharp. Does the grille plastic or the ODL bumper get in the way of the 3x3's when lit? I did something similar with my 3x3 spots a couple months ago.

As far as the grille and bumper they honestly don't get in the way,but that is also because I have the lights aimed up since I don't need then for foreground light. I actually want to add 2 more 3x3s in the flood configuration. Thanks a lot Matt! Jk. Lol.

However I am having one weird problem I notice that when I wired them in to my high beam circuit the worked when I wanted them to which was with my highs on they would turn on. However after wiring it up like that the 3x3s turn on with my low beams now its the weirdest thing. Any one have a clue what's gong on?

I'm dying for that spoiler, can't find it anywhere...ebay.uk, sellers won't ship...burtman industries have horrible reviews. :(

Did you tap the fuse box under the hood or a specific wire? I tapped the black & green wire under the steering column with a T-tap that goes to a Toyota fog switch, so that it only closes the circuit when I have my high beams on.

After years of looking for these I finally found them! These are elford Japan headlight ducts. One of the only sets in SoCal and one of the few in the us. Totally stoked I got a hold of these! They will be painted soon enough and I will probably have one of the last pieces for my exterior soon too!
