Has anyone run Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. I do about 50-50 on and off road. The tread pattern seems to be a little less aggressive than the Wrangler and seems it should be a little quieter on the road.

Yes, I had them on my old sport trac, they lasted for about 95k miles and were quiet as heck, all around a very good tire handled very well off road too.

Very heavy tire due to the Kevlar. If you get a good set that will balance out, you are lucky. I was looking at these a few months ago and even the guy at Discount Tire told me that they had quite a few sets come back that would not balance out. Just my .02$

I will tell you this from personal exp. While working for a company that will remain unnamed in Iraq we drove 3/4 Chevy Suburbans that were fully armored and hauled around allot of gear and "Stuff". The only tire that would handle the heat of up to 190 degree road temps and more, our driving style, and the off road conditions was the Pro Grade(Spend the money on the Pro grade) Silent Armors from Goodyear. The clients never once complained about road noise while being drove around when they conducted business in the Subs either. They are really good for just on and off road tires. I actually bought some for my old 95 3/4 4x4 Sub. In the mud they will dig very well and the snow they were solid also. Hope it helps.

That is interesting because we never once had an issue with them like this and we had over 150 trucks running them. Sounds like Discount tire might have the issue but who knows.

Good point. It could have been a bad batch of tires that Discount Tire had in their inventory. I was ready to buy them until I asked him about the weight of the tires( because of the Kevlar) as compared to other brands in the same size and that is when he told me that they are heavier and that they had experienced balancing issues and actually had to take back a few sets of them. Personally. I think they look great. Good luck Knothead with whatever you decide.
