Thanks to all members and founders of this site!! Ijust purchased a 2001 4R SR5.with 40k 1-owner miles.this thing is in unbelievable condition!!It is the most I've ever paid for a nearly 12 year old vehicle.(at $12,500)But your members and friends assured me it would be well worth it!I owned a 97 Tacoma and put 180K mi.onit and regreted selling it! Istarted driving Chevys again only to find myself with a GREAT relationship with my mechanic.I didn't realize at that time how great Toyotas are until I did'nt own one any more! Now I'm back and going to stay!! Thanks again.(PS will send some pics when the new wheels, tires, and lift is complete.)

Welcome to the forum, Chomp! Just for kicks a while back, I looked up the owner reviews of a particular Chevy vehicle because I always liked the body style of it (early 2000's S-10 Blazer), and what I found was quite pathetic--they were talking about how much they "loved" their truck, and how good it was, and then nearly every one added a laundry list of things they had repaired or replaced! They were so used to the pitiful quality of domestics that they thought this was just part of the "deal". It's no wonder that people are amazed once they switch to a Toyota (or Honda, for that matter), and see that a truly great vehicle doesn't require regular parts swaps and repairs--they are actually good and dependable with what came from the factory. I have a Chevy ENGINE in mine, because that is one of their few proven commodities, with decades of dependable service, but I wouldn't buy one of their VEHICLES for anything. Glad to see you're back in the fold!

Welcome Chomp...I had a Grand Am in college. Sweet looking ride, but every month it was something. Nothing horribly expensive, mind you, just something...always something. I'll never forget one blustery cold South Dakota winter day (ya know like 20 below), I stopped the car somewhere, went to get out, and the door handle came off in my hand. Since the window was frozen shut, I had to crawl out the passenger side. Yep, crap like that...all the time.

Ahh, now fast-forward to my 97 4runner. Soooo dependable. Almost 200,000 miles...I told my wife I'm stopping to take an odometer pic regardless of where we are. She's paranoid I'll be in Denver rush-hour when it happens.
:welcome:
