and i went skiing 5 times in my life but never actually skied cause i was to busy getting wacked at the lodge (thrills of being young)
but this season im going up there to learn how to ski
i would really like to take up skiing has a past time
i even told my fiance to buy me ski gear for xmas
so any advice shoot

Have you fiance invest in lessons as well. As a beginner, technique is FAR more important than equipment.

Skip the skiing and go straight to the snowboarding

^ to both posts.

Snowboarding has a steeper learning curve and you'll enjoy more of the mountain faster on a snowboard.

Get a good pair of pants and jacket. Go cheap on the board and bindings for now. Volleyball knee pads will help a lot in the icy eastern conditions. Not the big goofy pads, the thin long ones.

I don't know, but I couldn't justify the 3000 dollar diff between the SR5 and the Sport for astectics... Personally, I think the tube rack and running boards on the sport dont look as good as the normal on the Limited and SR5. And since I opted for the 17's anyway really there was no reason to go with the sport. Ya the scoop looks cool, but is it functional?? For 3k I canmake my SR5 look way cooler than any Sport model out there. JMO. Cheers.

It is more aesthetics when you go from SR5 to Sport. Some things off the top of my head are:

XREAS
Leather Wrapped Steering wheel standard (optional on SR5)
Telescoping steering (Not available in SR5 for 2004, not sure about 2005 or 2006)
Unique 17" rims only available on SE, 17" rims optional on SR5
Heated side mirrors

there is probably more, but all i could think about ATM.

Plus I just don't like the black mirrors on the SR5. I guess it is ok, if you have a black truck, but the other colors just don't work IMO. Also now the SR5 and the SE come with that funky chrome grill, color matched just looks much better.

Agreed, that's why I opted for the white b/c the black mirrors look good with all the other black accents. I have the 17s and the leather wrapped, no telescoping, but I didn't need that. The Chrome grill matches nicely with the chrome handles and the chrome tailpipe.

I plan on tinying driver's and passenger's windows to match the rears, looks like it will be about a 35%.

Who has the best prices on ski racks... I DO SKI.... lol.

The SE over the SR5 is some aesthetics sure, but also the heated mirrors, xreas suspension, and leather wrapped steering wheel are nice functional upgrades.

Personally, I wouldnt get a 4Runner without the xreas suspension, unless I was planning to mod the hell out of it. I'm not sure what it costs to get it on the SR5, but im guessing that would bring the price up close to the SE. The hood scoop I could do without. The other aesthetics are pleasing to my eyes.

Just my 2 cents.

I selected the Sport because of the hood scoop, wheels, larger brakes, dark gray seats, and XREAS.

The XREAS was a must have for handling - ironically, when I get the DR front coil overs with the matching rear springs (when ready) - the XREAS will have to go.

guys i love the winter and cant wait to go skiing and i'll try snowboarding as well see which one i like better
and dont worry im not gonna be no knuckle-draggers thats gonna ice up your slopes the last thing i'll do is ruin someone else ski day but i really look forward to going down the slopes
