Skid Plate for '05

Good Times, I've browsing internet and found interesting thing. This is Tacoma transfer case Skid Plate. Looks like Tacoma doesn't have cross members also, so they figured out interesting way to do the skid plate without cross member. This means that there is the way to make a skid plate for 03+ 4Runner V6. What do you think?

That doesn't look like the current tacoma (05+) as it looks like it's for the older gen.

The problem that you face is that your exhaust manifold sits lower than the cross member (your photo shows this distinctly). So building a skid will have to accomodate for this and thus make it a bit more difficult.

I think your best bet is to be patient and hopefully BudBuilt will have something soon If you can't wait then I'd say start fabbin up w/ cardboards!

I need something good and nice looking, so I'd have to wait till BudBuild will do something. ksneubec told that he contacted BudBuild and they are working on Tacoma and would do the 4Runner next. So I asked him to keep us posted.
I think many guys here will be interested in such skid plates.

go for functional... it's a skid that'll get beaten to death. looks are out of the question since you can't see it anyway. just remember it's sheet metal that you'll slide on so it's gonna get torn up nicely. Just apply black spray paint over and over until the skid is toast

I totally forgot that you had the v6. My tc actually sits a lot higher compared to yours.

My 05 V8 looks just like Alexjet's pic. The TC is an inch+ higher than the gas tank. Could the 03 be that much different in TC position?

I just spoke with Bud from BudBuilt. He said he still hasn't found a gunea pig 4th gen. 4Runner yet. He said he thinks he'll have one soon. If anyone lives in the hills of N.C., let him know, maybe YOU can be the test truck. I'll keep everyone posted . . . . . .
