Skid plate position is this right (image)

It seems counter productive that a skid plate be turned downward like this. I have looked for ages for a clear image of a 4runner and have never found a good underside image of this plate. It has been like this since I bought the vehicle.

It seems as though it would get dig in or get hung up if I was trying to back out of a bad situation.

Its not a real skid plate so it doesnt really matter, but it's probably installed correctly from what I remember. It'll bend up before it breaks off backwards.

I have an ‘07 Sport and mine is the same way. Never been an issue and should be fine until you get some “real” ones. ;-)

Yep, my 2008 is the same. Has never been removed. I recall that being a small UHMW plastic piece that just offers protection for tail of transmission. Seems to work well while driving thru deep snow.
