My 96 had two. If given the choice of only having one, I'd take the front one because of the radiator protection. See [MENTION=151090]MudMud[/MENTION] post.

[MENTION=156409]andyo[/MENTION] - I don't really care for driving without the plate because the radiator hangs a bit below the frame and I'd hate for a rock to go through it just because I didn't put the plate on.

[MENTION=151090]MudMud[/MENTION] That was my concern. I'm going to try and get the sheared bolts drilled out and replace them. Hopefully I don't run into any of the factory cross-threading issues I've read about.

I ran out before I got to those. Still look the same. Sometime this summer....

If they haven't been off or you think there might be rust, hit the heads with a propane torch to break some of the corrotion. Use some common sense with the torch and go easy on the bolts. I broke 4 of the 7 on my Tacoma and luckily only had to drill one of them out. On the Tacoma the bracket that holds the front bolts near the radiator is reverse to the 4runner so the ends of the bolts were visible and as far as I can tell this is not the case with 4runners (I haven't taken them off my 4runner yet). Was a pain in the butt getting it all back together but it could have been much much worse.

this is the 3rd gen section, try posting in the 5th. the skid plates attach differently.
