Skid Plates - Recommendations & Photos

Rust hasn't been an issue with my steel skid plates. Sure maybe some surface oxidation after getting scraped but I wouldnt buy aluminum just for its corosion resistance. If you want to save weight and don't do heavy wheeling just keep the stock front skid plate and call it good. The weight savings are actually below the roll center of the vehicle anyway. Aluminum skids are a lot of money.

I think Jeep guys are pretty light on the skid plates compared to us 4Runners guys that go overboard but we also can't 'bolt on' 40s and a 6" lift for extra clearance.

I like the aluminum, no oxidation so far and looks good on the Galactic Grey.

This one protected the 4R when I drove over a spare tire on the highway. It was a reasonably hard hit.

I also considered the ARB, my friend has the ARB and complains how difficult it is to remove/install due to the cage nuts on the back.

Budbuilt hands down!

I'm selling mine shortly because they don't work with a solid axle, but for 13years I used the Buds and they have been amazing!
