SKIDMRK: A Build Thread.

Nice progression!

And you definitely need Sogoood around if you need some help. He's really good at standing there while doing nothing. :D

LOL. with friends like i have, i'm use to people standing around and watching. definately would like to meet up with some local fellow enthusiasts tho.

Busted out the SLR today after work and took some crappy pics in the office parking lot. Lift done, alignment done, threw on the 1.5" spacers i had for a pseudo hawaiian style just for ****s and giggles. will come off tho.

Whats the "waffled" sticker say? Truck looks good but everytime i see your screename i think of skidmarks (the trouser kind), and cant help but think you always have skidmarks or something.

I have to say....I like the tires sticking out that far! :trophy: Mine do too....and I'm not Hawaiian...lol!

Honestly though, I believe it's safer to run with a wider track if you are lifted, as it helps the rigs Center of Gravity. Kinda like standing with your legs spread wide, instead of with your feet together....more steady!

I find my truck corners pretty well for one that is lifted......and attribute that to the extended track width.

LOL. under the waffled sticker it says "over thought - under analyzed" It's a running joke with my audi/vw buddies. if you want to read up on "waffled" http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5198019-Waffled-car-threaD

And i'm on the same boat with the wider stance, and actually like the way it looks/handles, but officer friendly's around here are pretty strict and they stick out enough to get me a few tickets. Just need to fund me some 285/75's and they'll probably come off.

well, like everyone else, my power antenna was on the fritz. bent mast, killed everything else. decided not to do the tacoma whip mod or fix mine. Grabbed a vw Fuba antenna mast, taped the tip of the antenna and put into the drill. went to the bench grinder to trim down the lower flare to fit into the antenna hole. Next took a piece of 10 gauge wire, soldered it to the base of the antenna. dropped the whole assembly in and tightened down. Radio works again on AM and FM. Might not be as well as a tall mast, but i really never listen to the radio anyways. To me, looks better than the other options. as a bonus, the mast is flexible and wont break off in any way. On to the pics.

Very cool. I love the stance from the front shots. I think I might get some spacers, too, since I'll need them eventually anyway.

The antenna looks great, too. I personally just replaced mine with OEM, but it never ever comes up. Looks good, either way.

Looks great man! I need to get me another antena for my rig....can only listen to the radio when I'm in the city! HA HA!

Island truck look ftmfw

lol i spotted you a couple times. once on 164th and also driving i5 south around southcenter haha. nice truck in person.

I am about to order some of that vinyl... Would you be willing to help me with installing it the first time? Kinda show me the ropes... I have a couple little things I would like to do on my 4Runner as well as my wifes car.

Skid I was wondering about your battery setup. I assume you have two amplifiers so I am wondering if you are running two batteries, bigger alternator, big 3 mod, or what?

The reason I ask is I have twin Rockfords in the back in a sealed box with a 600 watt rms amp. and the headlights dim ever so slightly when I crank it up some. I am running the amp off of the stock battery, no electrical modifications. I'm trying to get some ideas what I should do about the dimming and you look pretty knowlegable on the subject of electrical.

Clean build btw. Everytime I see a built up rig on here in makes me cringe. I'm just an ole broke college student! And i don't understand why everyone hates the small flares lol. I guess compared to the limited flares they do kind of have the "sissy" factor.
