Slider Build

A friend of mine, Jake Burley, who has been doing custom fabrication work on the side, is about to pull the trigger and start fabricating full time. Perfect timing as sliders are on my list of upgrades to make on my currently stock (other than AT tire upgrade) 2016 Trail. So I asked him if he could fabricate a set for me. He started today. Pics of the progress are below. His focus over the winter is going to be on building a prototype adventure trailer, with the goal of production for sale sometime after the winter. But if you like the sliders once they’re done, or need some other custom fabrication work and live within driving distance to Boise, ID, Jake is a great guy and fabricator whose attention to detail is incredible. He gave me the material specs, which are .250"x6" flat plate. 2"x2"x.188" square tube. And .120" wall 1 3/4" DOM tubing. I’ll post more pics as the fabrication progresses.

Also on the list for winter upgrades:

Bilstein 6112/5160 setup with Wheelers T13 rear springs. Want about 2” lift up front and 1.5 in the rear. I tow an Xventure XV2 trailer, so want to maintain some rake and will put the airbags currently in the stock springs in the new rear springs.

Safari Snorkel

K9 Roof Rack

RCI Aluminum Skid Plates

Behind grill light bar

Given that I’m towing the trailer I’m trying to keep the extra weight down. So, for now, no front and rear bumpers, winch, etc.

Coming together. Tubes bent and cut and everything tacked together and ready for welding. Jake has done a phenomenal job on these—I couldn’t be happier with how they are turning out.

Bit of a break over the holidays, but sliders are now all welded up and tested for fit one last time. Really happy with how they turned out, Jake Burley did a fantastic job. Now off to powder coating.
