Slider install and frame grommets

I am installing sliders on a 2017 OR without KDSS. My frame has multiple plastic grommets/plugs running along the outer edge. Some other folks
mentioned these. What is the general consensus... remove them to allow the slider plate to fit "more flush"?

I removed one and found an untapped oval hole

Removed the ones that would be covered by the mounting plates to reduce the chance of gunk building up behind the plates. Plates serve the same purpose as the plugs, they cover the holes.
