Slider Options for 4th Gen

My 2006 currently has OEM sport tubes.

I’m considering getting something a little sleeker and tighter hugging to the body. It would also need to be something that’s a direct bolt-on with a quality black finish.

I’m wondering if you guys have any recommendations showing what options are out there?

A piece of advice though... think ahead with what other mods you might want to do and how they might interact or interfere with each other. I bought my bolt-on rock sliders from one company and some skid plates from another and they dont work together all that well (where and how they bolt up interferes with the mounting of the others). :redbrick: A totally avoidable lesson learned the not so easy or cheap way.

But... here's what my rock sliders look like on my '06 to give you an idea.

I don't currently have them on my black Runner but did go with 4x Innovations for my previous white one. Loved the look and price of these.

I just ordered some RCI metalworks ones on the memorial day sale. It was between those and white knuckle. I liked the way they attached direct bolt on vs the u bolts. not sure which is stronger though. It was a very tough choice. The White knuckle look sso beefy and strong plus the DOM option. I hope RCI comes through with a good product though. I have heard good things.

Can you elaborate on which ones you know don't work together?
 
RCI makes good armor and the sliders bolted right up without issue. They also took some hits just fine in Moab- I'd strongly recommend them. One thing to consider is shipping, check to see if BAMF or other local fab shops make sliders you like. Picking sliders up will save 100-200 in shipping.

Yeah, sorry was trying not to trash the companies, as I like both their products... they just dont play well together :-/

I have the White Knuckle kickout rock sliders (they use a set of 3 U-bolts around the frame to secure to vehicle... one in front, one in middle, one in back) and I have a bunch of RCI skid plates underneath. The problems (that Ive noted so far) are:
[1] The RCI Transfer Case skid plate bolts to the frame in the same spot where the middle U-bolt for the WK Rocksliders is supposed to wrap around the frame. (see the red arrow in the first picture)
[2] The RCI Lower Link skids are supposed to bolt to the frame in the same spot as the rear U-Bolt for the WK Rocksliders is supposed to wrap around the frame. (see the red arrow in the second picture).
[Note - pictures are from RCI's website... the arrows show where the U-Bolts from my sliders are interfering.]

My thinking is that if I'd gone with the RCI rocksliders, I would not have had this issue... as they mount to the exterior of the frame (they dont use U-bolts wrapped around it).

I have installed the rci and white knuckle sliders on friends rigs. I will be buying the white knuckle sliders in DOM and welding them on my girlfriends runner, I like the way the fit the body and they are stronger then the rci sliders.

+1 on liking RCI's stuff. Although I havent had the opportunity *yet* to really test out my engine, trans or gas tank skids... they appear to be quality parts - sound design, good looking welds, solid heft/feel, etc. I feel waaaaay more confident with them protecting vital undercarriage parts than stock set up (yes, a somewhat obvious statement, I know).
 
I have the White Knuckle sliders and love them. They were very easy to install. Folsom4runner makes a good point about making sure whatever sliders you get will work with any future skid plates.

For me that's not an issue as I will be getting my skid plates locally (Rock Steady Motorsports) and they'll work with me if there are any fit issues.

The white knucle DOM option is nice. I wish RCI had that. I just like the RCI kick out style better that WK als the WK are abotu 15lbs heavier each side.
 
Maybe they changed up something?
My RCI steel skids play fine with my WK DOM sliders.
Rear link skid tucks under the slider ubolt and help keeps it from shifting upward.

I was an All-Pro fan, but they really screwed me over last time I tried something from them, I cannot recommend them to anyone any longer.

I like the way the white knuckle sliders look, but I'd want to weld them on.

This is interesting... When I was installing mine, it didnt look like they'd fit together. I will have to double check clearances on mine and see if this set up would work. THANKS!!!
