Sliders..SO MANY?!

Ive been looking to get a set of sliders. What brands do everyone uses? Would you recommend welded on or bolted on?

If you're going for a bolt-on set, look for brands that use a heavy plated U-shaped channel that bolts around the frame as this tends to be as strong as the welded units. (Such as my CBI ones, I have heard that Demello & SW do the same.)

Does the armor thread discuss in regard to the bolt-ons that have the u-shapped channel for bolting to the frame?
 
My shrockworks sliders are great! BUT depending on how much you'll use them offroad, if I had known more I would have gotten kickouts and looked for ones that stick out a bit more for use as a step.
There are more choices now than ever so really do your research. Mine are bolt on and they are not going anywhere!

I'm not entirely sure if it was detailed in the armored thread. But I have a set of bolt ons with this design and its been as strong as the frame itself. I regularly just kick the pads on my lifts on the sliders and lift the car off them and they have taken a beating off-road well also without twisting, or what not.

Its funny you mention that! After having my sliders for a year or so I too am regretting not getting front and rear kick outs (my quarter panel is a lil off because of that :O) or getting them to stick out a little more to use as steps. I'll probably replace them in the future when I have extra money or finally get fed up with it lol.
 
I definitly want ones with front and rear kick outs for sure. I really don't care if they are bold on or weld. I just wanted others opinions on what they like.


I just want others opinions on what they have and the abuse they have taken or the abuse that had caused them to twist or fail.
 
I really like the budbuilt sliders for the 5th gen 4runner that have the rear kick outs.

Does budbuilt make this slider for the 4th gen? I went under their website and didn't see any sliders for the 4th gen.

Anyone know?
 
they dont have them but if you take your truck to them they will make them. no one as far as i know has gone to him about 4th gen sliders but i did get a response i think on facebook saying i would have to take the truck to him to get a set for my 4th gen

BlackWorks, are yours the SW sliders?
 
why not just go with Stubbs ? his stuff is proven, been around for years, and he is a Toyota guy
 
Welding = Voided Warranty?

I believe domestic manufacturers void your warranty if any welding is done with the frame? Using the proper grade bolts allows for easy replacement also.

That's not the case. Because of the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act they can't deny a warranty claim unless they can prove that the modifications you made directly caused the problem. So, if the welding is actually the cause of whatever goes wrong they won't cover it. If there has been welding but it wasn't the direct cause of the problem they can't use that as a reason to deny the warranty claim.

This is very true, I think the reason this may become an issue is two fold.

The first being that the welding can weaken the structure of the frame if done improperly. The second being that if the welder is improperly grounded and or circuits are kept live (i.e. you ALWAYS disconnect the battery from the vehicle before welding on it) you can cause serious issues.
 
I think i've narrowed my slider decision downs to the Demello x-wing sliders or Man-a-fre sliders. Any comments on my decisions? I'm open minded if anyone had any pros and con for these and maybe what they would go for.
