Slip light on?

If it was me, I would pull a fuse and basically do a re-boot of the ECU (or if there is a fuse specifically assigned pull that) not in the presence of a 4runner at the present.
Certainly worth a try before a trip to a dealer. If memory serves, you alluded to it in your post but a light on when a vehicle is still under warranty certainly seems like it would be covered. It wasn't a wear and tear item.
As for breaking something, that has been a hotly contested issue since time in memorium. As long as Toyota has a TRD division I will dare them to make a big deal out of off road activity. Now, do I think they should fix my mistakes? No but don't start with the "Did you have this off-road" Nonsense.
They've tried it with me and no longer do. Nuff said.

Traction control if turned off should automatically come back on at ~35-40mph. Atleast that's how mine is. That is something that they shouldn't charge you to diagnose especially if your still under warranty.

Diagnoses charges should be warned ahead of time. Only and only if you damaged a component should you have to pay for it. The shop is protecting themselves from abuse. Diagnoses fees should be waived if the failed component is under warranty.
Adio, check the abs wire and sensor on the side the ball joint you had trouble with. Our systems take traction information from the abs sensor. There is also a tone ring on the axle shaft. Make sure there is no mud or dirt packed up in there. The dealer can charge for finding those items out for you. Again, because there is no failed component.

2012 slip lght and C120A code
just purchased 20120 SR5 4x4. Had reputable shop install Bilstein 5100's which lifted front enough to acccomodate 285/17/70 Duratracs. Slip light stays on and shop gets a C120A code - Shop thinks that they don't have most current update needed to decipher/clear since it's a 2012.
Anybody able to shed some light on this? Thought I would ask here before taking to Dealer and arguing with them about modifications/warranty.

C120A is for "The master cylinder solenoid is not informed that the vehicle is equipped with downhill assist control or crawl control and downhill assist control or crawl control operates.

True that that is the #1 answer after a lift by a shop that didn't loosen those ABS wire harnesses,but the DTC for those open wires is C0265.
On board Computers and Diagagnostic Trouble Codes are a mechanics best friends these days! I havn't seen one wrong yet! Best part is you can get a cheap DTC reader for less then $20 an a good one for around $30.

Seems like a few of TE's and SR5's have had the calibration go out of specs after a lift. That tells me that the sensors were barely in spec to begin with and when they lifted they get the lights and DTC code. No biggy!
All have been fixed!

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Shop thinks that truck needs to hooked up to dealer computer to fix the C120A error code. That their equpment won't do it, if I can buy a $30 piece of equipment that will do it -Tell me what/and where to buy please.

On my 2011 4runner SR5 2WD, my slip indicator light and check engine light turn on and it stays on after starting the engine. My 4runner is completely stock and had new same size stock tires installed about 600 miles ago. Before I take it to the dealership when I have the time, what issue can it be???
This is very frustrating because my 4runner has been reliable, no problems whatsoever! I just get the oil changed at the proper intervals and drive it on the weekends, then I get these 2 lights on the dash!!!

For the sake of "hopefully it's nothing" my friends RAV4 did the same thing and after two hours of checking for wires and restarting the ecu we then also tried fiddling with the gas cap and wala it worked. Why? No idea but thanks google.

Do you knoiw if a regular obd II reader can read the code if the engine lights not on , but just the tractionlight is on?
I called autozone and the kid said no.
Do you have a DTC suggestion that might read it with no engine light on just the tc ligh?
