Smallfrye's 2010 Trail Edition Build

Came close on Saturday to trading in my 4runner for an 2018 Double Cab Tacoma OR but in the end I decided to hold off till I see what my work is going to do with my move back to Colorado in a few months. Nice truck but now isn't the time.

The 4runner returned home to mountains of Colorado this weekend.

Headed to the trail head for Uncompahgre Peak, nice hike to 14300'.



Cinnamon Pass - haven't been on this trail since I got my first 4runner 10 years ago.



A couple of things I noticed this weekend.

1 - The headunit I swapped in from 2015 4runner cycled off twice outside of Ridgeway and the screen frozen up which lead to another restart. It also cycled off just outside of the Ouray. Hasn't done it since or before. Just on this trip.
2 - Drivers side wheel is rubbing when turned. Had a couple of alignments done after the CV was replaced and have had issues since then.
- Thinking of replacing the LR bushings and ball joints and the suspension needs a refresh I think, sounded kind of bad this weekend.
3 - Had an odd vibration while sitting at idle with the brake pedal pressed in and would let up when I took my foot off the brake slightly.

Item 2 - fixed by Fat Bob's Garage
Item 3 - The new rotors that were put on apparently before my trip where damaged (lots of spider cracks in them) and where replaced. Brakes now feel 10x's better.

Went and looked at a white 2018 Toyota 4runner Offroad and a Offroad Preminum this morning and last night as I was thinking of moving up to a newer model year but I can't justify making the move. Outside of one or two tweaks my 2010 TE just seems better to me (kind of stupid that a OR doesn't get a pwr passenger seat). Changing to a Tacoma would be a better upgrade to me.

Well here she is, nothing special just a 2018 Tacoma TRD Offroad.



I'll be sticking around this forum in the other vehicle category.
 
Selling a new set of left and right inner tie rods and boots over in the for sale section that I never got around to installing before selling the 4runner. :peep:
 
Came close last week to trading the Tacoma back in for a 2019 4runner but after looking over everything it just didn't make awhole lot of sense financially to do so. That and I still don't like the front end. :p

This is such an unpopular opinion. The '14+ is just it's completely own design language, and that's fine. I love my pre-facelift so much, I can see a lot of cues from the 2nd gen in that face.
