Smoke and loss of power

Alright so i have a 95 4runner that decided today after leaving a gas station that it did not wasn't to perform at 100 percent. It started sputtering as i was acceleration and had a good bit of power lost. I do have a hole in my muffler and it sounds like sputtering air from there but that doesn't explain the smoke. On hard accelerations blue smoke comes out of the tail pipe. This sounds like heads but i really hope not. Any input is appreciated

Smoke means it's likely that oil is getting in your combustion chamber,question is which one.pull out all your plugs and see which one is oil fouled.it could be a drop guide or stem seal or the worst part broken oil rings causing oil to get sucked in the chamber.

Thanks for the quick response. Have any advice on how to tell which cylinder could be the culprit? Also whats the skill level to handle this? I'm pretty good when it comes to suspension but under the hood I'm a little apprehensive.

Nope didn't get gas just some crack from the hooker in the bathroom.

Well then, did you drop the crack in the tank hoping it would give the 3.slow super powers?

Ya know, it's funny, when I read this post, I too immediately thought it was a diesel fuel thing. It's been know to happen. And considering you had just fueled and it started. Things that make you go Hmmmm. Could also be you got some bad gas.

So if it's running rough, you can start pulling spark plug wires while it's idling - if it's one particular cylinder that's giving you grief, you'll know you found it when you pull the wire and it doesn't get worse. You also should do a compression test (parts stores will rent you a tester), and look at your spark plugs while you're doing it - odds are at least one of them will be fouled with oil.

Assuming yours is the V6? I'm not a 3.0 guy, but I think when the head gasket goes it's normally on cylinder 6. If you have the 22RE, then you're imagining things because they never break.

Ok so i tried the pulling wires while idling and none really seemed to stay the same. Also the smoke is more of a white and smells like burning matches is the closest i can describe it. Would a bad cat possibly cause any of this? And to clarify i did not fill up at the gas station. I use the same gas everytime i fill up so i don't think its bad gas. Thanks for all the replies

A sulphur smell? Rotten eggs? Could be a clogged cat. I think most any exhaust shop will test it for you.

That sounds pretty close. I'll try taking it to a shop tomorrow morning. Would a hg go that fast? As to be driving an hour and then it just go like that? It wasnt a gradual transition.

Could be a messed up O2 sensor, too, I guess. I dunno, just trying to help you brainstorm.
