Did some stuff to the truck today. Including buying a trailer. Here are some pics!


The Trailer:

Before and after flex pictures of my truck. I trimmed the bump stops up, the rear bumper, and took a sledge hammer to the pinch weld in the fender. I still had about an inch or two of flex on the after pics, but with no locker I started spinning. The before pictures are completly flexed out. Enjoy!!

Just put in all 4 new door panels also. The front is the new one, the rear is the old one. Upgrade at all? I think I like the new ones more..

Did some more wheelin yesterday with a coworker of mine. We went up in the mountains exploring. It was pouring down rain, the trails were SUPER slick, and he kept getting stuck. Needless to say we all got a little dirty and wheelin day turnd out to be more like drag Corey everywhere day.

I tried keeping my left side tires on that little ledge to left because there was about a 4 foot cliff in front of me and the rutts were deep, but with all the rain and mud, the rear slid off thus crunching the bumper. This was the only time I needed help though.

Also got some some more parts in today. This is going to be a maintenance filled week. I just replaced both batteries just to find out my altenator is what fried them in the first place. So I will be replacing that altenator as well. Plus, I get to put in my new lift. I got some top plate spacers for the front and 851s for the rear.

Well I figured I'd update my build thread. I've been doin some work and still have a lot more left to do.

Went wheeling the other day and my alternator went bad on the trail, frying my batteries. so $300 for two new batteries and $300 for a remanufactured alternator, I got it back up and running. bought a cars window sun blocker thing, Added lights in the rear bumper and wired them to a switch, ripped the carpet and rear seats out, and installed the 851's today. The new front lift will be going in tomorrow. Hopefully it will level it out a little bit. lol. I also have new bucket seats out of a WRX and 4 point harness going in soon as well. Pictures will be up when I install some more stuff.

Got some new stuff today. I picked up a brand new set of 5 35" Duratracs for $900. They still have the sticker on em. Those will be going on as soon as my new rims come in. I also bought a new welder, my ol arc welder isn't cutting it anymore. Got a nice new hobart mig welder on the way along with a winch. I also bought some new rear shocks since I blew out my procomps out on the trail.. What do you guys think about tubbing the rear end? I haven't seen any pictures or heard of anybody doing it on here, just trying to get some feedback on it.

I like the fishing rod holders!

On my WRX, before I sold it, I did this(not mounted to the bars in the picture). It's a regular Berkley fishing rod holder that screws into a wall or what ever you choose. Worked out really well up top next to my fishing kayak. Used bungie cords across the top to keep them in place. I just need to make new mounts to fit the factory 4runner cross bars.

Sweet man. Thats a great looking truck. So whats the temperture like in Okinawa these days? Probably 90s with close to 90% humidity huh

yeah, its pretty hot and the humidity doesn't stray too far away from 100% lol. lately its been nothing buy typhoons. I think we get another typhoon every week or two.

Got some more stuff done. Tube doors, 4-point harness' mounted, and custom hi-lift and shovel mount. Next will be sliders, then mounting my winch fabbing up new bumpers front and rear.

I still have to add my tire iron to the the hi-lift mount (should be pretty bad a** when I get done) and change the lock style on the doors since the way they are now makes it kind of difficult to operate and they're not real "user friendly". Here are the pictures, ENJOY!

I ran out of time tonight. The wife had dinner ready and Japanese people don't take kindly to an angle grinder at 10 o'clock at night. They called town patrol on me! lol. Tomorrow I'm gonna finish up strengthening the sides, I'm going to box the rear part of the frame where the bumper mounts, add gussets to damn near every joint, and then throw some steel mesh over the sides. Also I'm gonna weld some light tabs on the rear crossmember right above the panhard bar facing the rear. That way they will be out of the way of rocks and other debris, but still provide light while I'm backing up at night. What do you guys think? Not bad for a day's worth of hard work and $100 worth of steel. It may not be "store bought quality", but hey, its strong, I'm getting practice with the welder, and most of all, I made this... :bravo:

Looks like it could be a 2nd Gen Pajero. Maybe a Nissan Patrol. The pic is too small to tell.

Sweet build, I like the rear bumper and tube doors, you don't see Hilux Surf builds here very often.

That would be correct. It is a Pajero Jr. No second gen though, they only have 1 generation.

Bumper is done! After many man hours. I'll put up daytime completed pictures tomorrow. Here are the pictures though!! I love it, and it's hella strong. Only cost ~$70 to build also. What do you guys think? I made a shackle mount attached to the frame too, just for added strength.

And here's the neighbors Pajero Jr. you guys were askin about. I took a picture of the neighbors Skyline too, cause every American loves Skylines. lol

I am in love with your Set-up on the rig!! :wow2: you said that you used the OME 851's for your rear and i like the lift that it is giving you, but do you know if i could throw on the 851's for my '97 limited 4runner? i don't know if the 4runner and Hilux have the same suspension so thats why I'm asking.

R33. 32's are real boxy.

And thanks guys, a lot of hard work and money in this rig.

And yeah, they'll fit. Suspension wise, these are the same trucks. Make sure you get some extended brake lines though. Stock one's aren't any where close to reaching.
