Snatch strap capacity

I actually have 2 questions that both relate to snatch strap capacity.

I'm in the process of outfitting my 2012 SR5 for mild off-roading and am wondering what brand and capacity snatch strap most of you carry in your
4Runners?

Also, thinking of getting a snatch strap as a Christmas present for a buddy who has a 3/4 ton truck (not sure of the vehicle weight) and would appreciate the same info.

Appreciate any help.

Bubba Rope. The best money can buy. And you'll need a lot of it cause they're quite pricey. Keeper is a quality brand too. Capacity should be around 20- 30,000 pounds. More for bigger full-size trucks. Good luck.

We have our own made in the USA Recovery/Snatch Straps that include a cordura slider, as well as straps by ARB, Trail-Gear, and Icon.

Our Wheeler's Straps are rated at a 27,000lb Breaking strength. We also have our new Wrap-It strap for use when a vehicle does not have any real attachment points.

The straps are all more than strong enough for your vehicle as well as any full size rig.

I fell for the Pro Comp straps a few years ago when they had a big sale on them.
They are not snatch straps, they are tow straps, and not to be used as a snatch strap. Said it right on the packaging and on strap.

Keeper is probably the best out there, they make slings and straps for industrial use.

I purchased a few of the Wheeler's straps in various sizes about a year ago. I haven't used them that much, but they seem to be well made and worked as intended.

Fourwd1 is right on about Keeper. I first came into contact with their products when I was an oiler/rigger on a crawler crane. They supplied all our slings. As for choosing a 30K # strap for a full-size? Good luck with that! Ever seen a F-350 on 54" Boggers buried up to the running boards in sticky mud? Trying to be snatched by two Dodge 3500 TDs? They were snapping 30,000 pound straps like spaghetti! The only thing that stood up to the abuse of repeated hard yanks was a 75,000# rated Bubba Rope. Simply the best!

A snatch strap is designed to be slightly elastic so that it will stretch a bit allowing you to get a running start, where as a tow strap is non-elastic so shouldn't be jerked on and only pulled taught and then pulled on (no run up). A snatch strap will say it's a snatch strap or a kinetic recovery device; I personally have an ARB 27,000lbs rated one I got from Toytec.

Tear and mildew resistant nylon material assures long life and stretch required or an effective recovery of a stuck vehicle.

I believe that's a typo and should say FOR an affective recovery...

there is some stretch yes, but not like a bungie. it works REALLY well.

ive used a shitton of various other brands of straps, these are my favorite so far.

I also have a badass 30'*3" Pro Comp recovery strap that has served me really well. Nice thick webbing, good stitching, and leather covered ends. Has a nice amount of stretch to it that works great extracting vehicles from the mud. Don't get worked up over marketing words. They are selling you a product.

Cool, good to know. I've never run into a kinetic recovery strap that didn't say snatch or kinetic.

How well do snatch straps retain elasticity through multiple uses?

I've got one that's been used 3 times, so just wondering. I suppose an exact measurement of length when new or even after each use is a good idea to help evaluate a used strap.
