Does anyone have a photo of the A-pillar mounting bracket for a Safari snorkel? I have a fun little homebrew idea, but finding a photo of how that works has not been easy.

Three plastic body clips are fitted in the a-pillar and then the three black screws are anchored into the body clips.

they're very similar to the body clips, but smaller. There is a link below of what it looks like.


It's the 29th one down from the top. "M7 Square Hole Nylon Nut"

im not sure youd have the room for a nutsert... it was a tight fit in their with the nylon ones

Guess I was thinking it would be open behind the A-pillar. Really wish I could have kept my snorkel.

I installed seatbelts in a '62 VW bus once. The B-pillar is some skinny stuff without a whole lot of room inside. What I had in mind was to use approximately the same technique I did there:

Cut 3 sides of an appropriate sided rectangle into the metal, pry it back (without creasing it), weld in some reinforcement (not necessary for a snorkel) and some captive nuts, then massage it back into place, weld it back up, prime and paint.

Now that I see what people are doing for the ARB setup, I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I've not been terribly impressed with a few (clearly bean counter influenced) engineering decisions I've encountered in these trucks ether (specifically the plastic inserts instead of actual hardware). I've got some more studying to do with this, but I might need to figure out a fun little mod to make these things a bit more tank-like...

its a freakin snorkel, not a anchor point... they are solid, i can grab my snorkel and shake the whole truck, it does not vibrate or move around. ARBs design is solid

There is plenty of room in the A-pillar for nutserts. That's what I used on my custom snorkel.

I agree on the arb being solid, its defently not going anywhere once on, and there is pretty much just enough room for the nylon inserts (very small pillars)...there is hardly any room between snorkel tube and door when door is open though like 1/4 inch gap, when I got mine installed i thought to myself there's no way the door is going to open

i saw a write up on a land cruiser that used RIVNUTS...

i think thats the route i will go...

i will need to source my own as i purchased an ARB snorkel without the hardware

sorry for the long wait, i normally check the forum on my phone so i didnt get the notification... i believe its a 90* bend. i remember looking at it and wondering what side when into the pillar and what side went into the snorkel, then i noticed the holes are different size and spaced differently.

I wish I had the luxury of just looking at a bracket.. I unfortunately have to make my own.. So I'm trying to gather as much info as possible about the bracket itself... The other hardware is easy enough..

I guess I will attempt a perfect 90 degree one and if it doesn't fit I suppose I can try again!!!

Just want everything to go smoothly when I drill holes into my rig

So I was wrong, its more than a 90* bend. It's probably about a 100-110* bend.

i have to fab up my own bracket and all the hardware ETC....

right now I'm considering cutting square tubing and grinding from there....

and hopefully i will have the strength to bend it with something, time to go to the gym
