Snow report and tire chain report please

pls dont beat up on me too bad...

do we really need snow chains even with M+S rated tires ??? I have never need them even on heavily snowed cover roads and trails...

Just keep them in the truck and if you run into road restrictions no biggie you already have em. Not like they’re expensive or anything.
Do we really NEED them, no not really. I’ve been in a few situations where I did need 4wd WITH chains but it was not on the highway, just trying to make it up a driveway in town lol.

Thanks for all the tips and advice.. we made it through the check point, rolled the window and waved and the dude waved back and that was it.

I started in 4H but ended up with 4L and Atrack after i slid a bit with 4H. Might have been because i should have been going even slower than i was and i didnt air down. So did 10 miles @ 20 MPH in 4L, probably excessive but had the family with me.

Made it up to Arrow bear and did some tubing with the kids.
Beautiful day and perfect timing to be up there, it was awesome.

We did pass about 5 cars/trucks that were stuck (spinning out) one was half way over a hill. Crazy.

You actually had to drive up in 4WD? I was in Big Bear for the weekend and left the truck in 2WD on the drive down Sunday morning. I did have to keep it in 4H when the storm hit Saturday night though, we decided to hit some trails and all of a sudden the snow came down hard. I saw 2WD cars driving through the city without chains too, crazy people. Also, I can't believe you sat through that horrendous traffic going up the mountain lol.

I slid for a second and didn't want to chance it with my little one sin the car. Not to mentioned I wanted full control when other people were sliding around. There was an Infiniti in front of me with chains on and it was fish tailing.

The problem was, the snow stopped and it was below 30 so it was iced.

The drive wasn't that bad at all.. Only traffic was at the chains check point. We did head out around 7AM

It was a great day, kids had a blast
