So Cal 4Runner BS Thread

If you Google lkqpickapart.com
They show you there inventory for all locations
Personally I think san bernardino has the best one
Finding a 4th gen might be a task tho

Yeah I've been googling around and haven't found much. With the amount of 4th gen 4runners out there you'd think I'd have an easier time finding one being parted out. LKQ doesn't have any 4th gens, mostly 2nd and 3rd gens.

I actually went to 3 different lkq pick your parts Saturday on the way to Big Bear. All the 2nd gen parts I was looking for were all gone :(. They do have quite a few 2nd/3rd gens.

I'm not in a huge hurry. I'll keep an eye open and see if I can get a color matched one first. If it really starts to bother me I'll try gorilla gluing it back on, hahah. Snapped every single mounting tab off but I found 2 of them.

Edit: you can also try car-parts.com

I did not realize that you could see all the sites. I guess I just had a saved link to the Sun Valley inventory.

You can make a free account on the lkqpickyourpart.com website and add an alert for them to let you know when they have your gen 4Runner in the yard :eyebrows:

I just did this so that it alerts me for 10 of the locations lol.

Nice! Good looking out. Need to get on that.

Just got done changing fluids and still not done. Changed radiator, flushed radiator, and added toyota long life coolant. Changed front and rear diff fluids and transfer case fluids. Dropped the transmission pan, cleaned it, flushed transmission fluid and installed trans cooler. It made such difference having new fluids. Got back some power especially punching power. Next service is changing the brake fluids and power steering fluids. Next upgrade is changing LBJ and new UCA.

Hey Mac, don't know if you're interested in the TBU bit here's a good deal on some 199mm calipers.

nice work
which ucas are you thinking about getting?

I'll be over at Demello this weekend picking up sliders, anyone know of any trails near by where I can do a quick run?
I'm not sure where demello's shop is but I'll be off the 39 on Saturday hitting trails

I'm thinking about built right cause that's what I have on my 4th gen and I wheel the heck out if it. I'm seriously thinking about ebay uca as well, cheaper than all others. I know one of the guys I wheel with has ebay uca and it's holding up great.

If anyone is looking for a project or parts car...

2000 4Runner V6 4x4

Here's some quick notes when I went to look at it. I thought if it needed brakes and AC I could fix and flip it, but it's too much of a project for me right now.

king shocks, don't appear to be leaking
Cv axle boots are completely gone
No spare
Bad interior
Throttle body spacer
K&n cold air
E locker
Brake rotors worn through (tow or fix before moving)
radio doesn't work
4wd drive doesn't work

E locker doesn't work
Sachs super touring rear shocks
Electrical mess (doesn't seem too bad)
needs Spark plugs
needs Timing belt soon, no record of replacement
Roof rack attached to roof with rivnuts or something. No signs of leakage, but it's in a desert
Baldish tires

Before I knew the rotors were as bad as they are I drove it around the block. Started up fine and ran smooth.

So thanks to Drunner97 I was able to source some discontinued rear Metal Tech 2" lift long travel springs. Now for some questions...are 2.5 that much better than 2.0 diameter shocks, Icon makes some shocks specifically made for these long travel springs in both 2.0\2.5 and non res\ res? If i'm just a weekend warrior do I really need remote reservoir? I'm going to be slowly piecing together my F/R suspension setup but I would like to know is the performance worth the price increase? Going with remote res 2.5 over 2.0 with no res is almost double the price.

This is my DD so overall road comfort is preferred! As of right now I'm on stock springs with 2.5\1.5 daystar comfort urethane leveling kit with 5100's all around. To me my current setup rides really nice to what I'm normally used to with all my lowered stance cars and Subaru track car, but some people say that 5100s ride a little stiff!?!?! I know tires have a huge affect on road quality so right now I'm on Cooper Discoverer ATP's standard load 265\70\17 planning to upgrade to Cooper ST Maxx 255\80\17 E rated tire.

I kinda been eyeing the toytec 2.5 boss front coilover, and I think TK-422 didn't you just install some on your 5th gen how do you like them so far?

Definitely plan on extended travel, or the LT specific Icons for the rear so you get the most travel out of the springs. I've got the extended length 2.0 with remote reservoir in the rear and I've been very happy with the setup on and off road. I recently went from 5100s/885s to the 2.5 Extended Length Icons in front with no reservoirs and I've been happy with them so far too. Slightly stiffer than the 5100/885 and I still need to adjust my preload to get the ride height right, but so far so good. From the people I've talked to, you really don't need the remote reservoirs unless you're doing a lot of fast off road travel which really works the shocks.

Is there a particular reason that you went with 2.5 in front and 2.0 in the rear? Does the larger diameter shock just soak up the bumps better because there's more fluid inside?
