Alright, alright. I'm so used to posting on forums where I know everyone and here it all still seems so anonymous to me.

Hi, Miah. I am buying new tires soon. Is that OK?

Nah we're all buddies around here one way or another and always bustin balls one another and pretty much don't beat around the bush ...need to have a lil thicker skin in the SoCal section ...it's the only area on this entire forum that gets away with the crap we say...since there's no whiners to complain but there are definitely a few "weenies" to found here.
Very solid group here that help each other out quickly and efficently one way or another also a wealth of knowledge here since it's a hodge podge of every generation 4Runner here and the majority of ree ree's here wheel their rigs as well which helps with first hand knowledge and answers to questions someone may have plus it helps having more wheeling partners and make some new great friends ..and enjoy some jabs at one another.

You Just don't wanna be a "Weenie " around here cause you will get called out and put on the "Weenie List" for everyone to see.

Oh yeah and by the way Welcome to the Forum and more importantly the SoCal Section , welcome.

I'm good on height in the rear right now, I still need to crank my Icons up and get the front a little higher to even everything out.

Also, **** Duratracs, for reals. Great tires, haven't left me stuck once, have gotten me through ice, snow, rain, dirt, rocks, soft sand, you name the terrain and they've done it.

But I'm over it. I'm getting my 3rd one replaced in just over a year because I took a nail to the sidewall. Those dudes at Discount Tire know my rig well, hahah. Thank god for warranties, costs me less than 40 bucks to get it replaced.

What size are we talkin, what type of tread and brand of tire you were thinking ...cause not any o'l set of tires is gonna cut it around here , it needs to trail worthy and handle different types of terrain but have just as good on road manners...or don't bother wasting your money.

well just the other day i did ask a firefighter if i could sit in the truck. does that count? oh and i still play with trains occasionally.

as far as tires go, probably some 265/65/17 cooper discoverer AT3s. are those approved?

I had ice and water all over my cargo area last weekend from the ice chest bouncing around. I don't miss that whatsoever. Welcome to the always cold club and no ice club!

I don't remember when I peaked in your 4Runner, what did you do for power? I think I have a blue sea 12v outlet somewhere and I guess some 8gauge from the battery? The factory 12v is weak and has small gauge wire and is not used from my limited readings.

but yea, i'm excited for no more soggy anything.

Speaking of iceless cold food carry cases. Just got to test out this bad mofu at Rowler Flats today. It was over 90 degrees with the windows rolled down for full wind effect from Mother Nature. Everything held up nicely. The sandwiches were dry and the water...chilly!!

I ran 1/0 gauge from my second battery to a 100a bluesea fuse block. It's major overkill but I also plan on wiring some other things to the fuse block. Before that, I ran some 10 gauge to the 12v socket and that worked for awhile but I had some voltage loss because of the distance. Right now the fridge and my arb compressor are running off it, I need to wire the 2 USB plugs and I have a led light strip to wire into it too. Gonna have some amber pods for the rear as well that will get wired in the rear instead of going all the way to the battery.

I think I've got one of those Blue Sea fuse panels too, might go similar route to also put a compressor in the back.

Next will be dual batteries or solar panels to keep your solo battery charged, hahaha. I like having the compressor in the rear, keeps it clean. I just need to get onto the planning phases of my cargo box build so I can put it on the other side where I want it.

don't threaten me. I'll do it! Just add everything to my list - Dual Battery, Solar, compressor, actually finish my drawers and storage, sliders, bumpers, rtt :faint:. Why is most of my stuff electrical ugh.

Solar is going to be next on my list. Typically we're off roading most of the day so that keeps the house battery charged, but for longer trips where we may post up on a lake or river for 2 days straight without moving it would be nice. Turns out the Wynter fridge sucks down more power than all the rest of the fridges and 2 days running drains my battery pretty quick.

Honestly you could get by without either if you get a good deep cycle with the highest aH that you can fit in the stock location. As long as you're moving daily and giving the battery a chance to recharge before the fridge runs all evening/night you're mostly going to be fine. If you're out solo, keep one of the jump packs, otherwise keep a pair of jumper cables for just in case situations.
