So How Much Did You REALLY Spend on Your Gen 3 4Runner?

I bought mine for $5,500. 185k v6 5-speed with a locker in pretty OK shape. Might have paid a bit too much

Baseline maintenance: t-belt and water pump, LBJ's and tie rods (inner and outer rusted into one piece), and a stereo (stock one wouldn't play CD's) = About $700.

The jury is still out on "to get it how I want it" So far I've spent about $1500 on suspension and sliders. I've still probably got at least another $2500 to go for gears/tires and on board air. I'll probably build my own bumper and tire carrier (hopefully keep it in the $100 neighborhood for steel). Maybe some other doodads along the way. I'll be lucky if I keep it under $10k

I bought mine in Oct 2010 for 6k. It had about 165k on the odometer
A few days latter, I bought a wrecked 96 4runner for $600 but had to pay $40 to get it towed back to house.
I got my Downey off road Bilstein coil over lift kit and pan hard bar from it.
Parted the rest out for $3k

Got a free Sequoia Motor (see V8 thread) and sold my 3.4 motor for $1200

Spent
$175 for exhaust work
$150 for Eclipse Navaigation off forum
$200 for spidertrax
$80 for ghetto cold air intake
$40 for OEM floor mats
$400 for TB, WP, 2 Coil Packs, A/F Sensor, h20 sensor, Cat, Freon, AF and oil change
$100 for valve guide seals and valve cover gasket
$100 for electrical compents for the swap (relays, fuses ,butt connectors, heat shrink tubing)
$110 for electric fans
$75 for new battery (when I first bought it)
$125 for ricer radiator
$100 to shorten drive shaft
$80 to have AC line made
$100 for the AISIN manual hubs
$120 for new wheel bearings

So I have about $2375 in purchases
plus the $6000 for the 4runner
For a sub total of $8375
minus (the sale of the motor, the parts runner) $4200

So I have a grand total of $3,975 in my ride.

Sent scrap metal (steel, copper,and aluminum) to the recycler and got $300

Just sold the 99 limited Tranny to Doc for $400 so the new grand total in my ride is $3,275.

Dont feel bad i bought my 96 limited e locked very clean with 167,000 miles last year for 7,000 stock. i know i paid to much but it was a dealer, Im at 6500 in aftermarkets so about 14k into it. Yet its only worth 7k haha

PS...SINGTOE u my friend are my HERO!! your 4Runner is bad as hell with that V-8 and to have less that 5 grand in that is freakin amazing! I need to find some of the deals you have found!!
