I'm just wondering what I should be getting to while the weather is still bad.

About the truck:

1997 SR5 4Runner 4x4 no diff lock
5 Speed Manual
All stock
80,000 miles
Paints a little chipped in spots and needs clay bar-ing because of rail dust


Were taking it in to get the Serpentine belt changed and possibly water pump, but I thought I should get a list of stuff together that I can either have the mechanic do while its in the shop or I can do when I get it back.

Suggestions?

Also me and a friend were driving w/ the windows down and we noticed a squealing noise from the front right side of the truck, is this something I should worry about and how would I go about diagnosing the problem?
I'm about to leave for work so I'll roll the windows back down and see if I still hear it while I'm driving.

By serpentine I assume you mean the timing belt? Yes it's old enough you should do the timing belt and make sure they do the water pump at the same time. Might as well do accessory belts and rad hoses too.

Not sure how long you've had it but might be time to change all fluids, engine, trans, diff's.

Have your mechanic check your lower ball joints.

Squealing, could be brakes, belts, bearings, neighbors cat...?

I think I might do those steering bushing this too, that feels like it could be improved.

Not really maintenance but I might add BushWacker flares to prevent kick up more rocks and chipping paint

One other thing is I have a lot of front end vibration, hoping the steering bushings fix that.
