So I totaled the 4Runner, now what?

Not just front end alignment. The alignment of the crank and internal components of the trans, as well as the propeller shafts can all be affected. I have even seen damage transmitted to the rear end.

All of these things must be checked, and remember think .0002.
 
my 95 was 'Totaled' when it was t-boned... got a salvage check, then call around...

wrecking yard's wouldn't pay more than 350 for it... and I call all within 80 miles... it was a good week before I gave up.

Listed it on CL for 1500 and took the offer for 1k....

it still ran and drove like when we bought it. but it is a 2wd model, and to keep it legal we had to have all 'escape' places 'working' ... so I didn't baha the doors cause of the 2wd.

in the end, finance wise... we bought for 4k, salvage title check was 3200 (collision insurance), sold for 1k, made $200... we only put 10k miles on it, it was @ 165k miles when we sold it.

I have fixed worse than that 3rd gens, If you know your way around basic repair then do it your self.

Looks like hood bumper apron core support lights grille etc and yes the bags fired which is fairly simple as well you will need both bags a module and crash sensors all of this stuff can be had from the junk yard for roughly 500 at a u pull it plus you may need to have to buy some time on a frame machine just to check everything and make some small tugs on the apron area.

Not a super hard fix relly

No it isn't that hard. Admittedly I have a lifetime of fixing wrecks in my favor. My problem is with the idea that it "will never be the same". That concept comes from shitty people doing shitty work, and is a small percentage of repair shops. Good shops do good work!
 
How does the insurance thing work, meaning if your truck is totalled does insurance pay you the cost of a replacement 4rnr or what NADA/ KBB say the 4rnr is worth. Just wondering because these things sell for a lot more than what NADA/KBB list. Thanks.

There is no one answer for this, lot's of things are taken into account when they settle the claim. Different companies have different ideas, some use the book as a general guide, other companies use 3rd party "evaluators". I know if they low ball the offer you often have to fight for the value. Documenting what is better about "your" vehicle is one way, and finding ads for similar vehicles in similar condition too. Buying your own vehicle back for salvage value can work in your favor, or against you depending on salvage value. It's a game no one likes to play, but it often does work out, just not without some work.

There are tons of factors. They don't always use KBB list prices, some insurance companies use the full MSRP price and deduct using miles driven, etc. Also if you add things to the car they will up the price.

I added cruise control to my Corolla that had 59,000 miles when it crashed. Geico gave me $1,000 more than what was paid for the vehicle BRAND NEW. Lower than the MSRP, but more than what was paid.
