So I'm An Idiot...

I finally got my lift on yesterday after waiting months for all the parts and time. I ended up doing Tundra TRD Y/Y Y/B coils with KYB shocks (from previous owner of the Tundra coils) and a 3/8 Toytec spacer. In the back I used Downey 3" coils and OME N86 shocks.

Well in my awesome stupidness I put the Tundra coils on the wrong side. :redbrick: I was rushing and looking up the positioning on my phone. I must have misread the small text and put the driver side coil on the passenger side.
I just realized it this morning after checking it again. I'm so pissed right now and feel like an idiot.

My question is there any major negatives of having the coils on the wrong side? I know one side will be taller than the other, but can I still get an alignment for the time being and change it later? I won't have the time or tools to switch them for at least 2 weeks and I may just take it to a shop.

Measurements:
Before the measurement were taken on uneven grass so not the best.
RR: 11 3/4
RF: 11 3/4
LR: 11.5
LF: 12

After:
RR: 14 7/8
RF: 13 1/8
LR: 14 7/8
LF: 13 1/4

I will remeasure tomorrow morning as my daughter was in my arms at the time, so not the greatest measurements.

Will switching the coils to the right side make a difference in the front measurements because I only got ~ 1.5". It might have lifted more, but I didn't take measurements at home before I lifted it.

I also have a set of used 265/75/16 Cooper Discoverer STT sitting in the back of the 4runner waiting to be put on. I should have that done Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm happy with the lift in the rear and it will settle a little, but the front needs to be higher. If I don't get anymore lift out of, then 5100's will be bought this Christmas.

Haha, wasn't your fault at all. The rear coils are perfect, it was the fronts that I did wrong. We did the fronts well before you even got there. You were a huge help on the rear and really saved my a$$.

well if its just the matter of swapping side then its pretty easy you should be able to do it yourself in 2 hours, with a buddy 1 hour, all you need is jack, jack stands and a tool set

How does the front look? I am always one who wants to make things perfect but to each his own.

Yeah I know I can do it now that I have seen and helped with the install and especially with someone, except I can't do it till next weekend the earliest. Damn work always gets in the way. I would like to get an alignment before putting on my tires, but I just want to make sure it can be aligned or won't mess anything up.

Don't worry about throwing nice new tires on there til its worth getting an alignment done.

I don't understand why the front coils would need to be any different. The gas tank does not effect the front of the vehicle hardly at all... Its all on the rear springs.

I know the coils are different in length, but I think its maybe by a quarter of an inch at best. For example, the Icon's i just bought did not mention a single word about drivers/passenger sides.

I would too want to get them correct, just for peace of mind, but for peace of what? Not sure... Whatever.

1/8th inch tilt side to side seems pretty typical to me.

Agreed on this point, but also the later point about the ride height being 1/8" out, do you really have a problem here? I'd give it a week and once the springs settle you still have only 1/8" variance, with a full gastank and a person in the driver's seat, then I'd say you're fine, and just get an alignment and put on your new tires.

Thanks for all of the replies. Yeah I'm going to remeasure today, but it seemed like it was level enough. I just wanted to make sure I won't be messing anything up by having them on the wrong side. I'm fine driving with them on the wrong side for now and eventually changing them as long as I can align it properly. Plus the alignment place I will be going to has a warranty for a year after, so I could always just go back after changing it. I will post new measurements shortly.

The left/right specific springs are only there to provide a level ride height, if the ride height is level anyways, then you won't hurt anything by running them "backwards".

Sweet, thats all I wanted to know. I will just run them how they are for now and check my heights in the mean time. After that if they are really different I will switch them.

I only got to drive it home on Saturday after I put the lift on, so I didn't get a good feel for the new lift. After driving it to work today I'm really happy with the outcome. The front end feels firm, but forgiving at the same time. I don't think the 3/8" spacers effected it all that much. The rear is perfect. It is firm, but not stiff. There is a bump as I pull into my works driveway and every time before with the stock suspension it would shake me around and creak. Today it still bounced a little, but was much smoother. I'm hoping my rear will settle ~.25-.5" and it will be perfect.

Ok I just checked the measurements again, but my work parking lot is not the greatest. I will get some really accurate ones later today.

My parking lot slopes to the passenger side so that might be the discrepancies.
