Since my willpower is down...I'd like to make a snap purchase and buy a lift kit.

Two questions: Do I need the Light Upper Control Arms and

2) How will my towing be affected?

I tow all the time with my ARB/OME lift, handles a trailer better than it did stock for sure. No UCA's here and no issue. Specs of my lift in my signature.

I am a 6 pack of Shock Top in myself. A couple hours of riding horses and drinking keeps you from feeling the affects, at least until you jump off and your legs go out from under ya!

LR uca's won't help with towing but they will help with the ride quality and alignment. They will also help with clearing larger tires.

went with the toytec ultimate 3" (I hope that's what I ordered) with the intent being to fit 285's duratracs. So we'll see.

I was wondering how you guys managed to pull the trigger on some of these setups. Now I know... and need to stock the fridge.

off topic here, but where did you get the trailer ? do you happen to know the make and model ?
I have a buddy with a Z06 thats thinking about a trailer for his, any info would be great.

Pretty much. You'll have all sorts of rubbing if you can't get over +4* of Caster.

Here was toytec's response:

The Light Racing UCA's are for getting a better alignment than the factory adjustments can offer with a 3 inch lift. They are not a requirement to add but they will make your truck much easier to align and give it a better alignment. Give me a call if you wish to purchase them.

More confused than ever...well my moto has always been go big or go home. So I'll probably just end up popping the cash to go big.

It's a dively trailer. It and many others like it can be found in various manufacturing places around the country. Design is simple and the welding is basic. I bought it off of ebay to save overhead from a middle man distributor.

Make sure to get the 5' ramps and the low profile fenders (to clear the doors to open...specify corvette). I got the 20' but you could get away with 18'. Get dual axles and electric brakes.

Because with a 3 inch lift in the front ,to get the camber within specs they have to bring the caster setting down to the minimum or even a little lower then the low end spec of 2.2 from the ones I've seen posted .

Low caster settings on 5th Gens reduce straight line stability and makes it tend to wander on the highway and a very light steering wheel feel.Caster settings of 4.0 or more make for a much more stable ride and feel.

Aftermarket UCA's are angled to get that lost caster back, have bigger ball joints to get 2+ more inches of down travel and are a just alot stiffer and stronger then the stamped steel factory ones.

Well worth the upgrade in my book!!

Considering that my new wife and my soon to be adopted boys are in Texas and I'm in Texas...I do a lot of highway driving. I've put 14,000 miles on my 4Runner since I bought it May 20th.

I wish people had explained it the way you just did from the start. I'll tell them to do the UCAs tomorrow morning. Thanks!
