So my car is on the lot...

Fair Warning: This is a bit of a griping session.

My Titanium 2006 Limited V8 4wd was at the Auto processing center last Thursday when I told the salesperson that I was going to buy the truck. It finally arrived on the lot today sometime between 10a and 1p. I got off work and came home. I called my insurance company and added the new truck and had them fax the required information to the dealer. I call my salesperson about 40 minutes ago and he says that he would prefer that I come tomorrow to pick it up because he is working with another customer right now. I asked him what he actually needed to do. I have my check in hand. All I need to do is go down there and sign it.
He tells me that he has to get the lot monkeys to prep the truck, make sure all the paperwork is done. Ok, that is fine. None of that requires his undivided attention. He then explains to me that he is working with another customer who wants to go home with their car tonight but it is requiring a lot of his attention because they have to get confirmation of their loan sent in and still they have to get insurance.
I asked him, "You would rather blow me off, with my check in hand till tomorrow and help those people who you don't even know if they are certain to get everything squared away?"
He replies, "Actually tomorrow would be better."
I couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth!
I told him that I wanted it tonight. He said he would get it started. The last thing I told him was, "Make sure it happens."
If he calls back with some excuse about not being able to get it preped, I am going to tell him to either have it ready tonight, have it ready tomorrow at $1500 less, or no sale.
I am fuming! I can't get over the fact that he would sacrifice a sure sell over helping some other people who it is going to require hours more work. I understand being helpful but, come on, how much hands on does he have to be with finishing with me?!
What do ou guys think about this.

First, use a different salesman. If the salesman is playing games with you before you give him money, imagine what he will do after he has the check? Second, I would tell the GM about your experience. You may get a slightly better price because of this. I am very surprised because dealers usually do everything to please the customer before the sale. It is after you purchase the vehicle that they ignore you! I definitely wouldn't let the truck go if you are getting a good price and it is the truck of your choice.

forget sales, call the fleet manager or the GM and deal directly with them. Or you could just show up, and tell them you want to buy it right now

I like that idea, I am leaving right now. I am going to talk to the sales manager when I get there.

Rediculous!:cannon:<-----me at the dealership!

I would (very calmly) ask the general manager if your salesperson is the only person on the lot who could arrange for delivery of your vehicle.

While I somewhat disagree that the salesperson should have dropped his other customer to take care of your delivery (either way, he's pissing off a customer), I don't see any reason why he couldn't get someone else (his manager, even) to start the prep work on your truck to make the delivery happen tonight.

There is a post-delivery survey that you'll need to complete. I once heard that it's important to the salesperson that you rate them "excellent" in all areas, but I'm not sure if that's sill true.

I bought both of my Toyotas from Big Island Toyota (a non Servco dealership). My salesperson picked me up at work, drove me to the processing center, and did the paperwork while sitting in my new vehicle. Neither I, nor my vehicles, ever left Oahu too. :)

Well, I am home with my new truck. My salesperson called about 45 minutes after I told him to make sure he gets the car ready for tonight and said to stop by in an hour.
When I got there, he was just pulling the truck into the showroom. We then spent an hour and a half talking, checking out the vehicle and signing the paperwork.
He's a really good guy and I totally understand him juggling two different customers. I am happy that he got me taken car of.
I did however forget to take my camera in and I am kind of mad at myself because I wanted to take a pic of the odometer which read 1 mile. I saw that someone else on the forum had that picture. I used the salesman's disposable to take a pic. Hopefully it turned out.
Since it is dark I don't have any pictures of the truck. I will go around this weekend and shoot her out in Hawaii. Hopefully I will be blessed with nice weather.

Thanks for the welcomes. I am ready to start modding!

Congrats. What dealership did you purchase your T4R? My T4R had 3 miles when I drove off the lot.

I got it from Dennis at Servco Windward Toyota.

Congrats on the new ride. Great Hawaii ride. I miss it there. I was becomming a decent big board NOSERIDER. I was a pilot for Mahalo Air. Do you remember them? Enjoy your ride:)
