The past few days I've been reading about head gasket problems and tranny problems.

I'm about to pick up a 05 SR5 V6 next week. It has 220k on it, I know the guy that owns it and it has been taken care of. (It was his vehicle for work)

Should I be worried about this now? He said he did have the tranny fluid changed around 100k.

I also think I'm getting a decent deal on it, around $5500

Those problems don't affect every single one made. That being said, it's getting up there in mileage so I wouldn't be surprised if you had to put at least a little money in it.

Alright, I've had Toyotas for the past 4 cars, 86 corolla, 96 corolla with 380k, 95 Avalon with 320k and still runs (power steering leaks).
And my current 2000 Lexus LS400

So I'm hoping to get a lot of life out of this truck.

I know the current owner and he always changes the oil at 3k and takes care of anything it might need, he needed the truck for work (manages a group of fast food stores).

So having a unreliable or neglected vehicle would cost him money.
