SoCal BS and Rant Thread

Just bought my ticket. I'll be out Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. Hope we don't get lost in the crowd of Jeeps :) Should gather together in one spot for protection :D

Tds 2015

Where is everyone? At the TDS Safari. Serious underrepresentation of 4Runners! :)

Keeping my eye out...

I was out there early Saturday morning, met up with some old friends for the All Pro run and camped Sat night. Left the 4Runner at home this time and drove my 84' pickup (on the right). Had a blast, just wish I could've made it down friday and had more time.

Jon's Tacoma on 37's and AP long travel kit was very nice.

My buddy Glen in his 87' 4Runner/Buggy

That looks like a blast. thanks for taking pictures. My daughter was born on Wednesday so I couldn't get away.

Awesome photos, thanks for sharing, why didn't you take the 4Runner?!

Thanks Danny, wish i took more pics. A little over two months ago I was about to drop $ on a front locker and regear. For a little more $ I found the pickup built already the way it is. It has front and rear lockers, 5.29 gears and 4.7 tcase with twin sticks with 35's.
Since the 4runner is so nice and rocks take a toll on trucks I've decided to just daily drive it for now and wheel the crap outta this pickup. After 6 years of payments on my FJ cruiser and 5 broken rear diffs and dents from front fenders to rear corner panels I just don't want the 4R to end up looking that way.

What did you end up paying for the pick up if you don't mind me asking? If I were to find something like that, I would have done the same. Don't get me wrong the 4Runner is beast on some of these trails I've taken it out on. But, If you plan on doing some good old rock crawling. Then this is the way to go. Good job on the find.

Thanks Keemonrunnin!
Yeah going to TDS was a three hour drive one way. The entire week before I had a really hard time deciding which truck to take. The 4Runner is very capable but very heavy and clearance has been an issue at times, also very comfortable on the road and wheeling.
The engine on the pickup was just rebuilt about 53,000 ago and it runs great. I still can't believe I got it for $3500 and gave him a mig welder I never used. He originally was asking $4800. I added up all the parts he had into it and was over 13k. A deal I would've never seen again, had to have it.
