Camping trip would be sweet. Maybe get inot the deep backwoods and camp. A 2 day wheeling trip would be pretty cool.

Is any one familiar with the Big Bear trail? We can go for that on a Sunday.

Any other dates work for everyone?

Which one? There's dozen of trails in the Big Bear area from easy to very challenging. Im doing Holcomb next week on Saturday if your locked, full skids, sliders, lifted and min 33's, your welcome to join.

I created a list of about 40 trails here http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19567&highlight=Big+Bear+trails

120.com also has a Big Bear campout called Big Bear Braii VIII which is in August if you guys wanna join. The link is here http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?p=166959#post166959 Usually end up with 15 or so trucks for this one.

Woah! never knew, haven't been there 4x4 before. Thanks for the info!

Your trail sounds fun but I'm fairly stock still so won't be able to join.

Any trail you recommend? there are a lot of easy's on the list. Have you done Miller Canyon 2n37 open (water crossing)?

Are you interested in dirt roads (easy - very little articulation) or some trails with articulation?

Most of the easy ones, including Miller can be driven by any two wheel drive with good tires and some care. There will only be a trickle of water this time of year.

Jacoby would be my best recommendation. I love that trail and have taken many stock trucks thru there and you cant damage you truck but gives a great intro to offroading a capable stock offroad truck like a 4R. Even with stock wheels youll be fine. In snow season its a lot of fun!

To get a general lay of the land I would suggest Skyline and Clarks Summit and also cruising to the other side of the lake for 3n16. There are many campsites off 3n16 and you will pass several trailheads as well. I would highly recommend Jacoby as a beautiful easy trail in summer. Its well shaded and ideal for a picnic. It has some nice articulation for a stock truck. Its doable to do all this in one day if you started in Big Bear at around 9am and went thru to late afternoon.

Depending upon where your coming from heres how I would do it

Start by doing Jacoby then cruise around 3n16. Head to town for lunch then depart by leaving via Skyline or Clarkes Summit.

My offroding calanedar is kinda full at the moment but if I can swing it I might be able to join ya and show you some of the trails.

I do suggest you get map from the Big Bear Visitor center, and also Charles A Wells book - Guide to Southern California Backroads and 4 Wheel Drive Trails. With these two resources you can know before you go.

Enjoy
Mark

Awesome! I've been going through the links you provided for the past couple of hours. LOTS OF INFO!

Thanks! That sounds most like what I'm looking for. More of a feeler into off roading. Nothing too easy but easy - moderate.

I went with the group to Cleghorn and that was great fun. I like the optional trails to challenge myself.
