I hope this poll thingy works:p I'll keep it simple for now, until at least we get some initial response.

Hopefully we can show our bretheren from other localities a good showing.

I'd actually be up for the first three, but since you can only vote once, I picked the off-road day trip. As long as it's 2WD friendly, I don't have 4WD and I can't bash or break my truck, it's the wifes and I would be in the dog house if I broke her truck.

Ditto

It seems like a lot of socal folks are 2wd 4runners. I voted for the first one cause i don't have enough 'off road' experience...i'm more of a 'cruiser'. We need a 4runner SoCal Gathering at least!!!!

there are a bunch of fire road type of trails in so cal that don't require 4wd that are perfect. lets start throwing up some potential dates/times/locations. late january or early feb should give us plenty of time to rally up more people.

Hey guys, nice to see some interest...yeah!

To you guys who have been posting for some time here, do you think it would be offensive to send an email or pm to the 40+ members of this forum who reside in SoCal just highlighting this event?

What do you think? I happy to do it if you think its cool.

the places i'm familiar with down here are san gabriel ohv area, rincon-shortcut ohv route (right next to san gabriel ohv area), and main divide road (near lake elsinore).

of the three i would choose between main divide or the san gabriel ohv area. actually come to think of it, i'm not sure what condition the roads for main divide might be like with the recent rain. i think the ohv areas like san gabriel or hungry valley would be a good meeting place because theres plenty of space to explore and to push your truck as far as you want to.

another place to consider would be big bear. it'll probably be snowing but would make for a great place to meet up.

Well finally finished....just pm'd 44 usernames (yes I included myself - don't want to feel left out you know;): ) so hopefully in the next week or so we should see some more interest.

Cheers
Mark

3 is good, 4 maybe. I've got a V6 4wd, gonna be my 1st offroading experience. Keep us posted

ijm down when is this gonna happen.if any local OC heads in here holy gym is nuts right now..

Are you talking about the road that goes up to the Holy Jim Trail? We drove that shortly after the last rainstorm to do the waterfall hike. Quite a few good sized puddles and mud pits.

I'm not a big off roader guy YET...I would like to. I'm just worried about my ride, if its 'equiped' enough with v6 2WD with some Micheln Cross Terrain tires, cause i heard those tires are luxury highway tires. I tried sliding with my truck in an empty dirt lot, that was fun. I need Everyone to teach me!

Ok - to keep this thread alive....

Have any of you SoCal locals got a plan for a destination?

It looks at this stage that we need a day trip that is manageable for both 2 and 4 wheel drive (eg a fire trail).

With the amount of rain and snow we should be able to find something fairly easily that will get everyone dirty without stressing our rigs.

I think we should aim for the later part of Jan. to generate enough interest from our SoCal chapter so that gives us the 16th (Martin Luther King Holiday on Monday 17th) or the 23rd. I briing this up in the 2nd thread about dates so as not to confuse this thread about a route.

Here's to hoping we can get this together asap.

Cheers
Mark
