Should have powdercoated it![]()
Looks awesome!! Very professional, like all your work.
We need Brockeverly. (That's T4R talk for "more pictures" !!!!!)
Thanks to you, Socal, I am much poorer, but soon to be richer in Omega bypass goodness... Thanks again for answering all of my questions!
Its getting the same black finish I have on my sliders. It has held up beyond my wildest expectations, I step on those things every day, they get dirt, rock chips, etc. Rustoleum Truck bed liner..... cheap and effective.
I'd probably powdercoat something like that for about $40-50 inside and out. You'd just have to give me sometime so I can shoot it in the middle of a texture black run.
Really like that box...if you ever get in the mood to make another...lemme know!
I am still patiently waiting on updates to your rear bumper build.
:hungry:
Thanks for this!! I've been looking for this for a while and came across before but didn't know if it worked for 5th gen.
:bravo:
We discussed this a lot when the 5th's came out in 09/10. See the links below, I had mine put in, in Feb 2010 and has been a great investment and well worth the price over the years.

~~~Upgraded Rear Hatch Struts / Gas Springs~~~
As many of you have also experienced, my rear hatch gas struts blew out a month or so ago. I spent the last few weeks searching for a replacement solution that would offer more lift to accommodation the Gobi Ladder and be as close of a direct "snap on" replacement as possible.
Well.... I FOUND IT!!!!!
After ordering 3 different pairs of struts with no luck, I came upon LiftSupportsDepot.com One of the very helpful employees invited me to stop by so we could try out a few different struts and see which one worked.
Those with the Gobi Ladder, here is what you want:
Lift Supports
When you order, you must put in the comments section the following: "Convert to 10mm straight ends"
Part#49124 244LB Force 22.7" Extended 15.45" Collapsed
Other than that, they give the hatch the perfect amount of lift, they are an easy upgrade or replacement of yours are already blown, and best of all, thy are DIRT CHEAP!!!! How does $17 / each sound!
Anywho. Thought I would share, I am happy to have my hatch back up and functional again, I got tired of resting it on my head as I grab my crap out of the back. :boxer:
Cheers!
Great! Now you don't have to go through Gobi or pay the $99 to $125 they charge for these things!
If they actually work lets get the part number in the 5th Gen Maint. Doc. Reference thread by WhiskeyCop as they are waaaaaay cheaper than the only other option we have from Gobi.
Good find! :thumb3:
