I am looking to sell my 1998 4runner Limited.

Specs:
1998 Toyota 4 Runner
Limited Trim
4x4
White with tan leather interior
Great condition.
223K on the odometer

KBB in excellent condition is $6500. This truck is very close to it. I am second owner, all original paint body and glass, and it is all in good shape.

Asking $6000. Located in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC, on 85 halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte.

Im not really sure how that metric is even remotely relevant or meaningful, but I disagree regardless, 223k miles is a lot of miles, especially for $6k.

To me thats kind of like saying aww come on, does the price really matter if you can afford it? Yes. Miles matter and have a direct effect on value. But noone has to agree with me, people are always free to do with their money as they see fit. To me, thats about $2k too high minimum considering a quarter million miles. Thats a ton of miles coupled with still premium pricing, and we know nothing about maintenance, receipts, documentation, dealer service etc. One or another, not both.

Or maybe after taking my time shopping, I just bought a 97 sr5 4wd with 110k from the original owner with 13 years worth of receipts for every oil change and all maintenance performed, by the dealer, in mint condition that's so clean you could literally eat off the engine or rugs for $5k. Timing belt, wp, hoses, belts, fluids, thermostat etc u name it, all done and documented at the dealer. Now tell me a truck with an additional 113k miles then mine is worth $1k more.

And no, I don't shop kias.

FWIW, I had my pick of a few other similar deals as well, I just took my time and weighed my options. Sorry, a 232k mile truck aint a $6k truck, as much as we all love 4runners.

Sorry, wasnt trying to screw anyone over. Im a car/truck/motorcycle nut and Im obsessive in my searches when I decide on what I want next. This month, I finally decided it was time for a 4runner as Ive always loved them and I had the $$. I realize most people are not as obsessive as me or as willing to put in the time or effort to get the most vehicle for their money, and Im not trying to look down on them. I grew up poor as dirt, Im not now. I am very careful with every dollar I spend. Im sorry, no vehicle with near 250k miles is worth anything to me, but as I always say, theres an ass for every seat. Im just saying if someone takes their time and does the proper research, they can do better. That doesnt mean Im hoping the OP doesnt sell his truck.

Again, please take no offense, but you dont know what youre talking about. KBB is utterly meaningless today in the world of used cars, aside from for a dealer to figure out how to screw someone that doesnt know any better. You have to look at Edmunds used car pricing, then look at Ebay, and then look at Clist in at least 3-4 towns around you to gauge what a vehicle is truly worth on the street. KBB in todays market means less then all those guys that swear the car theyre selling was all highway miles and driven only by an 88 year old sweet old grandmother that never took it over 25 mph.

You dont have to like me, but if you were shopping for any kind of used vehicle, trust me, Id be your best friend. As I said, between cars/trucks and motorcycles, Ive owned and sold close to 60 vehicles. I know what Im talking about.

I think Ive already answered that question, over and over, you dont seem to be reading. Personally, I cant think of hardly any vehicle in the world worth $6k with 1/4 million miles on it, but thats me. It seems to me that here, some people think any 4runner is worth any random number assigned to it because its a 4runner. So Ill just say good luck to the OP on your sale, I wish you well.
