Soldiers love 5th Gens?

I figured y'all might get a kick out of knowing that apparently Soldiers really do love 5th Gens. In addition to the service members we have on this forum, I've seen at least five 5th Gens in our parking lot here on Ft. Leavenworth. 2 x Mag Grey, 1 x BP, 1 x Salsa Red, and 1 x Black

Five 5th Gens in a parking lot that holds a few hundred vehicles seems to be a little higher population density than you'd see at the average mall or similar sized lot. To bad all of them appear to be stock - no ideas to steal yet!

I guess I'm not the only one driving around in my deployment toy! :driving:

True! In full disclosure, I happen to know that the black 5th Gen here belongs to a Submariner who's in my class. Even your service is represented at this Army school!

What do you think TOYSTRY - how many 5th Gens did we have in the Pentagon lot? Yours, mine (until Dec), and ???

Well considering the Pentagon's parking lot holds over 8000 cars on any given day, I'd say at least 10-20 of them are new 5G's from what I've seen.

They are popular, that's for sure. Especially in Charcoal Gray in the NOVA/DC area!!! :wow:
 
In my case, the reason for the 5th Gen love (active duty) stems from the massive use of Toyota Prados, 4Runners (called the Surf in Afghanistan), Hi-Luxs etc of these vehicles overseas. Their reliability cannot be beat. Especially the LandCruisers. Our unit just got two brand new V-8 Diesel LandCruisers and I am in Hog Heaven driving them. Back in the good Old USA, we seek out that rugged, dependable, go-to-war toughness in our personal trucks. So the latest morphing is the 5th Gen, and as soon as I get back to the states, I'll be purchasing mine!

Soldiers that used the Jeep in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam love it. The current crop of Soldiers never got to use the Jeep, rather things like MRAP, MATV, Hummer, RG-31, RG-33, are what modern US military folk are exposed to in combat zones. You really can't buy those in US dealerships (yet). Many units use nothing but the Toyota line, and outfit them with quite an array of gadgets.
 
I am seeing more and more in our hospital parking lot and on base as well. At least 6 SR5s/Limiteds in front of the hospital now, I use to be the only one.

I debated between a LTD and TE for quite awhile, but now when I park next to either a SR5 or LTD I know I made the right choice!

I've seen a few around whiting field/nas pensacola but no other TE's...What are you flying over in San Diego?
 
when I left campbell to deploy there was only a couple of us. one person had a black trail, a couple had sr5's, a chinook person had a blizzard pearl lmtd, and i had the only shoreline blue.

it'll be interesting to see how many more there are when I get back in the next couple of days.
