Completely agree with you. In 2002, I've experienced sliding at an icy intersection, luckily there were no vehicles crossing. That was scary experience that I don't want to be that situation again, specially with my family. So I invested in good set of Michelin winter tires, what a difference!!!! Though I use winter tires, still common sense rules. I drive slower and give ample distance between me and the front vehicle. I just could not do anything on drivers who likes to tailgate.

With my new ride, I've purchased Hakka R SUV. Could not wait to witness how they perform. I will update everyone in winter...

And you said you picked up an extra set of wheels for them too right? Where did you end up finding those, if you don't mind me asking?

I had the Bridgestone Dueler DMZ-3 on my Toyota-truck. It was a very good and safe winter-tire in my opinion. The material-mixture is very smooth, so I think it's not a tire for mile-eaters.
Now I've mounted the Cooper Discoverer M&S on my truck. What I noticed is, that it get's a bit slippery on wet pavement. I haven't tried it on snow yet.

I second the Bridgestone Duelers. I've owned two sets of the REVO's on two different vehicles (though I don't currently have them on my limited). Great tires, and much like the thread originator, we live in the foothills of the mountains and ski quite a bit. They are a great all season tire.
 
Okay, I'm pretty sure my wife thinks I'm weird, but that's not saying anything new... The new Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires are sitting in the dining room of my apartment lookin' pretty and ready for some inclimate weather action! :boxer:

Why are they in my dining room? I can explain. Kind of.

They came via UPS yesterday shortly after I got to work. When I got the delivery notice I drove home quick so I could move them inside and not worry that somebody will drive by and snatch them off the front porch before I came home from lunch. I didn't want to move them all the way around back and into the basement, so I just rolled them up the stairs and into the apartment. I thought about moving them downstairs, but then I thought, she gets to look at her decorations all the time, so it will be okay if these stay here for a little bit, right?

She hasn't started nagging at me to move them yet, but I'm sure that'll change by tonight... What can a guy do? :shrug:

I guess I'll just have to wait a month 'till it's time to put those bad boys on...

Advice from an elder, move them into the basement NOW.....life is always better when you use preventative measures.

I was given an offer of T/A KM+steelies (FJ) for 465.. are these tires any good, really? I found multiple statements that they perform just fine, but found as many saying complete opposite.

I'm on a tight budget here.. have to move in april, and trying to save up some $$.
