Solution for Hyperblink?

Hey Guys,
While I have gotten to know suspension pretty well, still learning about electrical stuff.
I have LED turn signals all around, and people usually use the relay fuse (for non-DRL) or resistors.

I found a new resistor and just wanted to double check it would work fine with our trucks (mine is 2007) and maybe provide a new solution for the LED hyperblink. Would just tap in the two wires connected to the DRL/amber turn signals.

Cost is about $60 for all four lights but it is more straightforward of a connection than the previous resistors and also does not require drilling to mount the resistors.

The stuff they sell is pretty good quality and that should do the trick for you. You’ll need one for the front left side one for the right side I believe.

Another option, if you have a plug-in turn signal flasher you should be able to replace it with an LED compatible plug-in turn signal flasher. I believe the older Toyotas use the same style as pre-2015 Subarus.

The advantage to doing a flasher is lower cost, and no wiring whatsoever. I did a 2011 Subaru and I have an LED flasher in my 1997 Chevy pick up.

Here is one that should work, and Diode Dynamics is a good company too. Their “tap turn” model is basically the one I used in my Subaru. It allows one touch 3-6 flash lane change mode. Really cool, but the basic one will do you.

I’m pretty sure they bought the company that invented this flasher, called Tap-Turn by Autowindow. Really worked great.

I’ve had these since June 2022 with no issues in case it’s helpful. I also have an ‘07.

There's also another way instead of doing any wiring. Get 4 non hyperflash LED bulbs and modify the OEM flasher. AFAIK there are no LED flashers for 4runners with the 10 pin flashers, just the 8 pin. If you have the 10 pin ( with DRL ) remove it from the inside fuse block, you will have to drop the block as the flasher is on the backside if the block. There are 3 nuts (10mm) socket. Take off the cover of the flasher and you will see a U shaped silver resistor. If you have a Dremel tool grind down little by little, DO NOT GRIND IT DOWN TO THE POINT OF SPLITTING IT IN HALF. Keep checking your work and try the flasher multiple times until the blinkers do not hyperflash. Reassemble and you're done.

I've done this to 3 4runners now with no issues and it's free, except for the bulbs tou are changing.
