according to that article, the driver of the 4runner was male and he survived the accident.

the 26 year old female who died was driving a chevy blazer.

Pretty sure the limit is just for the roof rack which I'm pretty sure didn't make it. But glad to see some of the drivers survived. Looks like it could have gone a lot worse.

Yup - Halilovic and the driver of the 4Runner, 64-year-old Roderick Hawthorne, didn't have any major injuries.

Yeah, but if you purchase an aftermarket roof rack (like the Bajarack Utility) they give you the same 200# "limit".

Threads like this make me happy to spend more money in payments, fuel, etc and know that the probability is pretty good that my family and I will survive something as crazy as that accident must have been.

It is unfortunate that someone died, but I am glad to hear the person in the 4Runner was ok. I hate seeing stories like this, but they always make me glad we spent a little extra on what must be one of the safest SUVs on the market

Well here's another one that miraculously survived without a scratch!A 22 year old drunk girl collided with 18 wheeler ,flipped across the median ..........and walked away! That's her sitting on the median.

Well, if the photo shows anything it's that the 200# limit on the roof is bull****.

The limit might have to do more with safety. Anything more than 200lbs on the top of a tall SUV is probably not safe if you have to make an emergency lane change.
